La Mer and Oceana Celebrate World Ocean Day 2008 in Style!
Friday, 6 June 2008
Stars turned out to celebrate the glory of the sea at La Mer and Oceana's Celebration for World Ocean Day 2008 on Wednesday in NYC.
The event is an annual occurance to honour the crucial role of the Ocean in all our lives, but with celebrities in attendance, it inevitably became a fashion show!
Michelle Trachtenberg (left) wore a satin floral blue wrap dress by Diane von Furstenberg with a feminine v-neck neckline and floaty skirt. She accessorised in gold and kept her hair swept up. Very lady like.
Amber Valletta (middle) looked classy in a white lace top with a deep v-neck and a knee-length black skirt with a sexy slit up the side. In case you're wondering, her fabulous gold and black satin pumps are by Chanel.
Finally is Rosario Dawson (right) who played it safe in a little black dress from Temperley London and black Yves Saint Laurent peep toes. A little boring but she always looks good anyway and the dress was layered which is trendy right now.

Monday, 2 June 2008
As most of you probably know by now, sadly one of the worlds most iconic fashion designers of all time, Yves Saint Laurent, passed away yesterday at the age of 71.
The revolutionary designer was suffering from a brain tumour and died in his Paris home late on Sunday. He will be burried this Thursday.
His long time partner Pierre Berge said of him; "He was the first to put women in pants, the first to put them in tuxedos, the first to put them in masculine clothes, the first to employ black models. He was audacious, he revolutionised the trade."
He had such an immeasurable affect on the fashion industry and this news is so so sad.
He is a true legend.

Thursday, 10 April 2008
Proof that wearing designer does not mean you'll look good!
Gwyneth Paltrow looked disasterous at the 2008 Point Foundation Benefit at Capitale on Monday wearing a black and red printed vintage Yves Saint Lauren dress with Givenchy Spring 2008 gladiator shoes.
The shoes I like, but with skinny jeans because with a dress they just cut off Gwynnie's legs and make them look short.
The dress is horrendous. The big shoulders and puff sleeves are so unflattering, and the colour and print are just plain ugly.
Yuk!

Tuesday, 25 March 2008
So many C and D list celebs turned up in their sexiest, attention grabbing, outfits for Details Magazine's Mavericks 2008 Cocktail Party last Thursday.
My best dressed of the night was actress January Jones who looked stylish for Spring in a volumous, high-waisted, floral navy skirt teamed with a classic white vest and white peep toes. So chic!
The queen of curves Kim Kardashian wore another figure hugging dress but I like this strapless, gold one more than her usual ones as it's more structured and holds her in nicely! Luckily she kept everything else simple with a black clutch and black peep toes which stopped the gold from looking cheap.
Wearing an acid yellow one strap dress, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon hit two key Spring trends and looked great! What is that hairstyle about though? You can't wear a sexy, grown-up mini dress with little girl bunches in your hair! Ridiculous!
Also looking lovely was Miss Guided's Brooke Burns in a strapless navy mini dress and trendy bold yellow clutch bag.
The L Word and Life star Sarah Shahi wore the most popular YSL Spring 2008 dress as already seen on Rihanna, Julianne Moore and Gwyneth Paltrow! Personally I don't understand the fuss with this dress. It's not very flattering and it's sooooo boring! Why are so many celebs wearing it? Having said that, Sarah improved the dress slightly by breaking it up with a black waist belt so she gets points for that.
And finally is Maria Menounos wearing a chiffon latte coloured mini dress with black trim around the neck and black tights to match. She looks cute but I'm kind of fed up of seeing this look. It's sooo last season darhling! Haha.

Friday, 29 February 2008
Lucy Liu looked fabulous in all black Monday when she attended the Opening Party for a new Yves Saint Laurent Store in Paris.
The gorgeous starlet wore a stylish draped black dress which fell below the knees with a wide corseted waist belt and trendy black platform sandals.
I'm scared about the new platform trend. They look great but I'm terrible at walking in heels!! How about you?

Monday, 31 December 2007
Despite reports just a couple of days ago that the club may not open at all due to "licensing issues", Jay-Z managed to get his new 40/40 Club in Vegas ready for it's grand opening last night.
There's nothiing you can't pull off with enough money!
It may have been Jay's big night but girlfriend Beyonce stole the spotlight by looking fabulous on the red carpet with younger sister Solange.
Beyonce looked like an ice princess in her silver embroidered dress and fabulous silver sandals. The dress is feminine and sophisticated but very party-appropriate and her natural hair and subtle make-up looked soft and gorgeous.
However, in my opinion, Solange looked even better than Beyonce in a (appropriately) gold outfit. Little sis chose a layered gold mini dress with sequins around the bust which she matched with her nude YSL pumps. This look is so flirty and sexy but the loose chiffon keeps it chic and not cheap!
While both Knowles sisters hit the metallic trend well, gold goes to Solange and Beyonce will have to settle for silver!
