2008 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala - Multicoloured
Tuesday, 13 May 2008
British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked chic in a multicoloured, strapless, feathered gown. I liked her matching blue jewelled clutch and her ever so stylish heavy fringe. Keeping the rest of her hair up was a wise choice.
Also brave in a multicoloured dress was one of my favourite fashionistas Kate Bosworth, wearing a vintage Chanel cocktail dress. The dress was edgy and fun, with a cute cut out neckline. Perfect for the woman who showed up on the arm of Karl Lagerfeld!
Also pretty cool was her choice of footwear for the occassion - Pierre Hardy multicoloured, sandals with transparent straps. I even liked her daring blue eyeshadow which could have been too much with the colourful dress and shoes, but she's young and pretty so she pulled it off!

Queen of glam, Dita von Teese, wore an eye-catching strapless white gown with black embroidery from the Marchesa Fall 2008 Collection. The beautiful creation also had a white feathered hem. It was very much in Dita's style and looked great with her peeled skin and red lips.
Naomi Watts on the other hand transformed herself in a pleated, all-white, halter neck gown by Theirry Mulger with old Hollywood blond curls and red lipstick. How Marilyn of her?!
I didn't even recognise her at first but she looked amazing in the bright white and the jewelled star detail was very unique. I like the fact that her gown and whole look was unlike anyone elses.
But my absolute favourite (probably of the whole night!!) was Emmy Rossum's fitted, floral, black and white Phi gown. The fitted basque style top and fishtail skirt were so sexy and yet the floral design and black waist sash were sophisticated. It's trendy but at the same time classic and in it, Emmy looked very classy.
Gooooorgeous! Can you tell I love the dress yet?!
She wore her hair curly as usual but a little sleeker than her everyday style and it looked great. Emmy accessorised with a simple black clutch and delicate silver necklaces.

Links to this post Email this post2008 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala - Colour, Colour Colour!
Like bright bold colours? There were plenty to be seen at the Costume Instirue Gala last week!
My favourite use of colour was Eva Longoria's trendy plum coloured Marchesa Fall 2008 gown. The colour is in style right now and I loved the strapless style combined with glamorous ruffles. She should lighten up on the troweled on make-up though!
52 year old, supermodel Iman attended with hubby David Bowie looking radiant wearing a bold satin red gown from Dolce and Gabbana. The dress gathered on the hip with a jewelled detail giving it a truly dramatic and elegant look.
I also love love loved the colour of actress Kate Mara's canary yellow Zac Posen Spring 2008, one shoulder, ruffled gown. Clearly ruffles are a huge trend now.
The dress also had a belted waist to give it shape and a dramatic train, perfect for the Costume Institute Gala. Her make-up was simple and flawless with well defined eyes.

Monday, 12 May 2008
Take note - different shades of soft blues were seen on some of the most fashionable stars at the Costume Institute Gala. This is definitely a trend to watch!
Supermodel Claudia Schiffer looked feminine in an ice blue, ruffled, Valentino Spring 2008 Couture gown. I loved her sparkly silver clutch but her orange make-up was a little scary!
Up and coming fashionista Camilla Belle wore one of the most popular designer's of the night; a stunning one shouldered, turquoise gown from Armani Prive's Spring 2008 Collection. The tiered effect almost looked like waves - gorgeous!
My favourite blue gown though was Jennifer Lopez's one shouldered blue gown with an exquisite jewelled neckline. She also wore beautiful jewelled accessories.
I love that she's embracing her new, softer, figure now that she's given birth to her twins. It's nice to see a celeb not hung up on getting every single muscle toned and tightened right after having a baby!! And for once, she got her hair and make-up right and didn't go over the top.

Julia Roberts looked elegant in a grey, off-the-shoulder, Armani Prive gown covered in gorgeous sparkling beads. I love how she wore her dark locks in a classy updo to show off her drop earrings.
Hilary Duff has kept a low profile recently, but she showed up to the gala last week looking glam in a mega-watt sparkling silver gown from Elie Saab's Spring 2008 Couture Collection.
In such a stunning gown however, she needs more confident posture and simple, classic, jewellery. All in all though she made the look her own.
Finally, fashionista Diane Kruger stood out from the pack in a silver Alberta Ferretti mini cocktail dress. There were so many details like the gathering, jewelled shoulder and puffed hem yet it didn't look fussy.
Her hot pink peep toes were just that too - hot!

Kristin Davis looked like a princess in a nude chiffon baby doll gown with a gold sequined bodice, from Michael Kors' Fall 2008 Collection. So girly!
Supermodel Gisele was a knock-out in a sexy pink Versace Fall 2008 gown. The plunging neckline and cut out sides combined with the satin material mean this look is only for the likes of tall, and slender Gisele!
But in contrast, Beyonce proved that curves are still stunning as she showed off hers in a strapless pink organza gown from Armani Prive with soft, delicate ruffles.
The colour was beautiful on her skin and I love the bare shoulders. For a fashionable edge she accessorised with contrasting emerald green jewellery.

I know you've seen these pics, and I know I'm late, but no celebrity fashion blog worth it's salt can bypass the Metroplitan Museum of Art's Annual Costume Institute Gala. It is the fashion event of the year after all!
My favourite of the classic black gowns were worn by Zhang Ziyi, Blake Lively and Ashley Olsen.
Zhang Ziyi kept up on trends with a one shouldered black gown from Armani Prive Spring 2008 Couture, one of my favourites of the collection. Her sleek hair and clean skin were stunning.
Ashley Olsen looked way better than her sister Mary-Kate (who looked like an old lady with ashen skin, greyish hair and hunched shoulders) in a custom made Diane von Furstenberg cutout gown which looked sexy but classic. I wish she'd have put a little more effort into hair and make-up though.
My favourite black gown though was Gossip Girl Blake Lively's Ralph Lauren Fall 2008 gown. The strapless, feathered, fish tail gown fitted her like a glove and had just enough glamour whilst still being simple.
Her soft hair and make-up were flawless and the little black satin gloves were such a cute touch!

Links to this post Email this postWhat's Hot in Hollywood?!
Monday, 21 April 2008
Us Weekly Magazine held their Hot Hollywood Hottest Style Makers Party in Hollywood last week, and the fun event was attended by a host of stylish yound stars.
Among them was reality tv star, and more recently fashion designer, Lauren Conrad.
So what is hot in Hollywood right now as far as style goes? LC was the most daringly dressed of the night in a turquoise and black sequined dress from the Catherine Malandrino Resort 2007 Collection. It certainly was a different look and very bold and bright which is perfect for summer.
Lauren showed up with bff Lo Bosworth and new "frenemy" Stephanie Pratt. However her once inseperable bestie Audrina Patridge was no where to be seen. Are the rumours of trouble in paradise true??
Another colour trend at the event was purple and lilac hues as seen on Sanaa Lathan, Heidi Klum, and the Us Weekly carpet!Sanaa looked very stylish in a purple and cream print ruffled dress but ruined it a little with some odd looking, clumpy grey shoes.
Heidi kept things simple in a strapless purple mini with a sweetheart neckline worn wth crocodile print peep toes. She looked ok but I don't like red nail varnish with a purple dress and the dress made her figure look really boyish. Maybe she needs some kind of a waist belt to give her shape??
The other big colour of the night was green.Rapper Eve was looking funky in a lime green satin Jay Godfrey Spring 2008 dress with a cool zip down front and piping detail. I love this dress, and teamed with black courts and a blakc clutch it looked sophisticated but fun.
Also in green was Jenna Dewan, who looked pretty in an apple green shift dress, with a little embroidered clutch bag and delicate silver strappy shoes.
If you're not such a huge fan of colour, or you want to look uber sophisticated, neutral colours are very much "in" right now.
The Lipstick Jungle actress Lindsay Price looked classy in a gold satin bubble hem skirt with a cream ruffled blouse and nude peep toes.
Rob Kardashian's girlfriend, Adrienne Bailon of The Cheetah Girls, looked stunning and very hot in a short, silver dress which had a fitted, high-waisted skirt and a contrasting loose top in a soft, shimmery fabric.
The dress had sparkle, but not too much to look tacky and her gold and turquoise beaded sandals kept things young. She was my best dressed of the event!
Finally, as always, there were certain celebs who played it safe in classic, easy-to-wear, black. But they still looked great!
Christina Milian looked super sexy in a strappy black mini dress with a gold chain neckline. I loved her slicked back hair and smokey eyeshadow, and her black wedges were the perfect spring/summer touch.
Like Lauren Conrad, Jordana Brewster wore a black and white embroidered, cutout dress from the Catherine Malandrino Resort 2007 Collection. The pretty actress teamed her girly dress with black sling backs and a big silver heart pendant.
Whose outfits did you like best??

Links to this post Email this postOMG Whose Style Was Better?! - Penelope vs Eva
Both ladies speak Spanish, both are gorgeous A list actresses, both have fabulous style, but this past week, whose style was better??
Penelope Cruz, who turns 34 next week, wore the very popular current style of a black pencil skirt with a contrasting tucked in blouse to a photocall for her new movie Elegy in Madrid last week. Her blouse was in the trendy purple colour and she accessorised with simple black peep toes.
Penelope's gorgeous dark hair looked bouncy, shiny and lovely!
Eva Mendes on the other hand, who turned 34 last month, wore a floaty leopard print dress to the 2008 Comic Con Party for The Spirit in NYC last week. She also accessorised with black peep toes and a simple black clutch.
Leopard print can look harsh, but with the soft chiffon material of the dress and Eva's delicate updo, it looked very chic and pretty.
But whose style do you think was better??
For me personally, I'd have to go with Eva because her dress is very young and feminine looking, and stylish at the same time. However, I prefer Penelope's shoes and her hair and skin look so shiny and healthy that it draws me to her! So maybe it's actually a tie?
What do you think??

The ever stylish Melissa George attended the 14th Annual Practical Magic Ball in NYC yesterday. That sounds fun!
The actress, who always has impeccable taste in clothes, looked, uhm....magical, in a chic black, one-shouldered dress with satin bodice.
Everything else; make-up, accessories and hair, were elegant and simple.
She can do no wrong.......as of yet!

Links to this post Email this postOMG Whose Style Was Better?! Petra vs Sarah Jessica
Monday, 14 April 2008
Supermodel Petra Nemcova and fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker where at two different events in New York on the same day last week, and both wore shuny, metallic coloured dresses.
But whose style was better??
Petra looked like a grecian goddess in a slinky, gold, gathered mini dress at the Food Bank's 5th Annual Can-Do-Awards. She completed the look with gold gladiator sandals and bouncy, blond curls for a sexy but still classy look.
Sarah on the other hand attended the 2008 Point Foundation Benefit with her Sex and the City co-stars. Sarah opted for a classic look in a silver, satin, shift dress, with a cinched in waist with perfectly matched silver, platform, peep toes.
The fashion icon accessorised with lots of layered chains and beaded necklaces and a multicoloured clutch, but kept her hair in a slicked back pony tail so as not to compete with all that jewellery.
Whose style do you think was better??
For me, it's actually going to be Petra. She walked a fine line between trendy and costume but I think she landed on the right side, and Sarah's necklaces were a bit too much for me.

Links to this post Email this postThe Seventh Annual Comedy for a Cure Best Dressed!
The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance's Seventh Annual Comedy for a Cure was held in Hollywood last Sunday and many celebs turned up to support the cause which raises money to help find a cure for Tuberous Sclerosis.
The best dressed on the night for me was Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, who was also honoured for her support of the cause. Teri set off her tan with a gorgeous strapless orange chiffon dress and accessorised with silver (though I would have chosen gold with orange).
Also looking nice in a curve enhancing dress was Melina Kanakaredes who wore a satin green pencil dress by David Meister with cap sleeves and a skinny waist belt. She also wore a statement pendant necklace for a simple, classic look.
And finally we have Canadian actress Emmanuelle Vaugier who looked nice in a a little navy tie front dress. She's way too skinny and would look much better with a bit of meat on her bones but I do adore her printed clutch bag and matching gold strappy sandals with printed bow. I don't know that I would have worn them at the same time as the matching dress though, it's a bit overkill.
What do you think of the fashion choices??

The stunning Italian actress, Monica Belluci looked radiant in a strapless black foral Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2008 maxi dress and black shrug at a Photocall for her new movie, Shoot 'Em Up in Rome Friday.
Floral is a big Spring trend, as are maxi dresses and frills. This dress ticks all the boxes!
Monica really is beautiful, but how old do you think she is??

Jordin Sparks wore a dramatic, black gown to Muhammed Ali's Celebrity Fight Night on Saturday. I guess she wasn't getting in the ring in such a glamorous outfit!
I love the strapless style and the sparkly bow, not to mention the full skirt. But that hair! The red streaks are so 90s and the style is more messy frizz than gorgeous curls!

Tuesday, 25 March 2008
One of the big fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2008 has to be ombre prints.
Adorable actress Adrianne Palicki attended the Paleyfest in Hollywood last Thursday looking fresh and summery in a floaty, blue ombre printed dress.
Worn with just white satin peep toes and a casual bob, the look is very sweet and girly.

Links to this post Email this postOMG I Spot a Trend! - Best LBD's of the Week
Little black dresses never go out of style, especially if you modernise them slightly to fit the trends of each season. Here are my favourites as seen on celebs recently!:
Thandie Newton wore a high-necked, lace, black dress to the NYC Premiere of her new movie, Run, Fat Boy, Run last Thursday. The floral lace and the mini style with black tights are very trendy aspects as is the waist belt, whilst overall the look is classic, especially with Thandie's simple make-up and chic updo.
Also updating her LBD was Lauren Conrad, who wore a stylish one-shoulder, assymetrical black dress to the Late Show with David Letterman in New York City last Tuesday. Lauren looked simple and elegant and accessorised with black peep toes. For fans of The Hills like myself, the new episodes with the trip to France and Brody's new girlfriend (but not with Kristin Cavallari :() started last night!
Melissa George proved how sultry black can be in a fitted basque style pencil dress with satin side panels and patent court shoes, that she wore to the screening of Stop-Loss last Thursday. I do like the natural look but I think the glamorous dress needs a little more glam in the hair and make-up departments.
Finally we have Lucy Liu wearing the simplest LBD of all to the 2008 UNICEF and Esquire Nationwide Tap Project in NYC last Wednesday, a black v-neck which could eaisly transition from season to season. Lucy gave the look some edge with the most gorgeous animal print pumps ever! Love them! I also love her side-swept updo.
