OMG Whose Style Was Better?! Petra vs Sarah Jessica

Monday, 14 April 2008

Supermodel Petra Nemcova and fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker where at two different events in New York on the same day last week, and both wore shuny, metallic coloured dresses.

But whose style was better??

Petra looked like a grecian goddess in a slinky, gold, gathered mini dress at the Food Bank's 5th Annual Can-Do-Awards. She completed the look with gold gladiator sandals and bouncy, blond curls for a sexy but still classy look.

Sarah on the other hand attended the 2008 Point Foundation Benefit with her Sex and the City co-stars. Sarah opted for a classic look in a silver, satin, shift dress, with a cinched in waist with perfectly matched silver, platform, peep toes.

The fashion icon accessorised with lots of layered chains and beaded necklaces and a multicoloured clutch, but kept her hair in a slicked back pony tail so as not to compete with all that jewellery.

Whose style do you think was better??

For me, it's actually going to be Petra. She walked a fine line between trendy and costume but I think she landed on the right side, and Sarah's necklaces were a bit too much for me.

A Little Bit Savile Row, A Little Bit Rock and Roll - Designer Jay Godfrey Talks About His Latest Collection and Gives Us a Sneak Peak!

Wednesday, 9 January 2008

Have you heard of Jay Godfrey? If you haven’t yet, trust me when I say you’ll know his name soon! Jay is an up and coming fashion designer from Toronto and now based in New York, whose sexy and youthful dresses have been a hit with Hollywood’s hottest stars.

Recognised for his signature one shoulder dresses and bows, Jay can count Hayden Panettiere, Gabrielle Union, Eva Mendes and Carmen Electra among the celebrities who are already fans of his cocktail dresses and full length gowns.

OMG I Love Her Style has a sneak peak at his incredible Spring 2008 Collection and a fabulous interview with the man himself. Check it out!:

Q: Hi Jay, first of all I want to say I love your designs! There have been so many questions I’ve been dying to ask you! Firstly, I was wondering how you got into fashion in the first place, since you started out in finance! Was it always a passion of yours?

A: I’ve always loved fashion. While my colleagues in investment banking were reading the Wall Street Journal, I was reading Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. One day, after 14 months in finance, I decided “enough was enough” and I left Solomon Smith Barney to pursue my dream of designing. I enrolled in Parson, interned at Oscar de la Renta, started my own label. I’m the perfect example of what can happen when you set out to follow your dreams and then they start coming true.

Vanessa Hudgens wearing a stunning Jay Godfrey gown

Q: You definitely are! With your success, you’ve had the opportunity to dress so many beautiful and famous women, what epitomises a Jay Godfrey woman to you?

A: The Jay Godfrey woman is confident, strong, and sexy. She’s fashion-forward and never afraid of taking calculated risks.

Open Back Dress with Zipper Trim - Jay Godfrey Spring 2008

Q: Sounds like many of the celebs you've dressed! Is there a celebrity you haven’t dressed yet who you’d love to see in one of your designs?

A: I would love to dress Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Angelina Jolie (left), Queen Rania of Jordan (middle) and Cameron Diaz (right)

Q: Interesting choices. Which young starlet do you think we should all be watching out for as a future fashion icon? Who’s style do you love right now?

A: Diane Kruger, Charlotte Casiraghi, and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld (left), Charlotte Casiraghi (middle) and Diane Kruger (right)

Q: So many young people look up to the celebrities who wear your clothes as fashion icons, but who is your fashion icon?

A: David Bowie, Tommy Nutter, Keith Richards, and Karl Lagerfeld… I can never chose just one.

Iconic Chanel Fashion Designer Karl Lagerfeld

Q: How would you describe your own personal style? How do you like to dress?

A: A little bit Savile Row, a little bit Rock and Roll.

Q: Very cool. Who or what would you say inspires your collections?

A: I take inspiration from old photographs, exotic landscapes or places, as well as the treatment of color and surfaces in other art forms like interior design. I also look to great architects like Richard Serra and sculptors like Santiago Calatrava. Finally, I take cues from trend-setting confident and sexy women like my wife, Dara.

Q: That's so sweet! How long does it take you to create an entire collection, from conception to the runway? And how long before a season are you thinking about what that collection will be like?

A: It takes about three months to create an entire collection. I start by sketching. I let the sketches sit for a few days and then I go back and edit. The designs I select at this point usually make it into the final collection. We sample the pieces, take appointments with buyers, and ship to stores a few months later.

Being a designer is a 24-hour a day job. I am constantly thinking about new designs and the next season. It’s a lot less regimented than one would think.

Q: Sounds like an interesting job. I’ve seen your Spring 2008 Collection and it’s so fun and feminine, what styles do you think fashionistas should be stocking up on now to be ahead of the pack for next season?

Orange Ombre Drop Waist Short Dress - Jay Godfrey Spring 2008

A: Ombre fabrics, anything with zippered trim, silhouettes that show off the new erogenous zone: the shoulder.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (left), Minka Kelly (middle) and Ginnifer Goodwin (right) all wearing Jay Godfrey

Q: You are famous for the one shoulder dresses! I’ve fallen in love with your scratch-print shift dress as well as your white strapless bow dress, but which are your favourite pieces from your Spring 2008 Collection?

Scratch Print Shift Dress (left and middle) and White Strapless Bow Dress (right) both from the Jay Godfrey Spring 2008 Collection

A: My favorites are the Jackson Pollack scratch-print party dress and the zipper shift dress.

Q: As for this season, what is your favourite fashion trend for autumn/winter 2007-2008?

A: Bold color.

Petra Nemcova (left and right) and Brittany Snow (middle) both wearing Jay Godfrey dresses

Q: And is there a trend you hate and want to banish?!

A: Flats for evening.

Q: Ha ha! Better get those heels out girls! Do you have any advice for any budding young designers who may be reading this and wondering how to get into the fashion industry?

A: Start simple and build from there. Become good at one thing before you become good at many.

Q: And finally, your star has risen so quickly since you launched you first collection two years ago, what’s next for you? What can we expect to see from you in the future? Do you any exciting new projects coming up?

Zoe Saldana (left), Vanessa Hudgens (middle) and Katherine McPhee (right) all wearing Jay Godfrey

A: I am expanding the collection to include contemporary separates and day dresses for Fall 2009. Eventually, I would love to get into other categories such as accessories.

Thank you so much for your time Jay, it truly has been an honour! I’d like to wish you the best of luck in the future and I look forward to seeing the next collection of Jay Godfrey designs.

If you’d like to get your hands on a Jay Godfrey design, they can be found at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Intermix stores as well as high-end boutique stores in the United States, Canada, Asia and Germany.

OMG I Love Her Style's Most Stylish Celebs of 2007!

Tuesday, 8 January 2008

This post may be a little late, but I took it very seriously so I wanted to take my time! Anyway, as we head into a new year of celeb style, here is my list of the best dressed celebs of 2007!

Jennifer Lopez is just my all time icon, so of course she has to be on the list! In 2007 she transitioned from her usual fabulous style to fabulous pregnancy style effortlessly, except for a minor glitch in the early pregnancy days! She is the most glamorous diva in Hollywood!

Maggie Grace is a new favourite style icon of mine. She has a different take on things to most young stars and loves vintage. I think she's quite creative with fashion, and going from blonde to brunette was the best thing she ever did!

Kerry Washington is a classic beauty who takes chances with fashion but keeps her overall looks simple. I loved some of the dresses she wore in 2007 and she is definately one of my favourite style inspirations.

Kate Bosworth has the looks and body of a model and manages to dress young and funky whilst still somehow looking timeless. I love the things she wore in 2007, but they wouldn't look like that on me!

Rihanna was my fav red carpet vixen this year! The singer wore a number of sexy fitted dresses and outshone her fellow celebs at many glam events.

The super sweet and adorable Rachel Bilson was the queen of everyday casual style in 2007. Whilst it's difficult to be as daring with fashion on the streets as you can be on a red carpet, Rachel always looked stylish, inspiring and put together. And of course cuuuuute!

Eva Mendes always surprises me style wise. In 2007 she sported so many different looks from classic ladylike to sexy and bold. She makes the cut for being a fashion chameleon!

Halle Berry has such simple taste in fashion. She sticks to basics and clean cut lines, but makes them look beautiful. With her new pregnancy in 2007, nothing changed and she made maternity chic look easy!

Thandie Newton makes the list for being my best dressed Brit of 2007. She wore so many fabulous designer dresses in 2007 and looked stylish and fresh, without religiously folowing trends. Plus she's just gorgeous isn't she!

Petra Nemcova is my best dressed and all round favourite model of 2007. I think she's a great person but more importantly (kidding!) she has fantastic style. Being a model, it's not surprising everything looks good on her, but what I like about Petra is she always looks well put together, even just walking down the street!

Kylie Minogue stepped up her style game in 2007 and became my best dressed pop star. She exudes a natural glamour whether she's wearing a cocktail dress, a beach dress, or turn ups and a cardigan!

Brittany Snow makes the list for the best use of colour in 2007. The actress sure knows how to stun on the red carpet in a variety of bold dresses. And it's not just the colour! The styles she picks are always interesting and fab too.

Big Brother 8 (US) runner-up Daniele Donato makes the list for being my most stylish reality tv star of 2007! The gorgeous blonde was my favourite contestant as much for her ability to win challenges and be strategic as for her fashion sense. She was by far the most (and probably only) fashionable person in the house! She has a unique and natural sense of what looks good on her and keeps things interesting.

Vanessa Hudgens has been without a doubt the most popular star on this blog in 2007! Will the trend continue in 2008? Probably! Vanessa makes the list as my most stylish teenager of 2007 though she is far more fabulous than many older celebs too. I admire that she understands what suits her so well at the young age of 18 and I'm excited to see her style develop further in 2008.

And finally we have Blake Lively who is my most stylish "one to watch" in 2008. Last year was a great year for Blake who saw her hit programme Gossip Girl take off and become the new "fashionable" show. Her fashion choices stood out from those of her co-stars this past year and I think she is definately one to watch! Will she make my list in 2008??

So tell me, who were your most fashionable celebs of 2007? Do you agree or disagree with my choices??

OMG I Spot a Trend - Silver and Gold

Friday, 7 December 2007

Silver and gold metallic dresses and tops are being sported by all the trendiest celebs at the moment, and is definately a look you should adopt for all those fab parties and nights out over Christmas and New Year!

Eva Mendes (far left), Mischa Barton (second left) and Petra Nemcova (second right) all shone in their metallic dresses for the Dolce & Gabbana party in NYC on Tuesday.

For ladylike Eva, a light gold knee-length dress with black jewels under the bust line was the perfect classy way to wear metallics.

More pics

Funky Mischa wore a loose silver mini dress with black opaque tights and Christian Louboutin Mad Mary Jane's. She finished her quirky look with an embroidered across-the-body bag and a mustard coloured coat. Plus, how fab does her darker hair look!

More pics

Meanwhile, Petra went for full on sexy glam in a fitted, sequined, silver dress with a bow around the waist and a matching bag. The silver looked stunning next to Petra's tan and the girl sure knows how to strike a pose!

More pics

My fav Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester (far right) wore a gypsy style, strapless gold dress with black strappies to the 11th Annual Teddy Bear Ball on Monday. With her soft romantic updo, Leighton looked so pretty!

More pics

Finally, if you don't wanna wear a dress but still wanna do the metallic trend, check out Heidi Klum (middle) at the Inside Project Runway event in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. The supermodel wore a silver sequined vest top with skinny jeans and patent black courts and threw a black tailored blazer and skinny neck scarf over the top for a hip fashionista look. I'm looking for a blazer just like this! It has such a perfect fit and I love the rolled up sleeves fora casual edge.

So get out and shine in metallics!

Petra Sure Loves Black!

Tuesday, 4 December 2007

Petra Nemcova was at the Launch of Ann Taylor's "Possibilities" Fragrance in New York on Saturday, wearin another all black outfit.

In the past week, Petra has been seen in a fun LBD at the Saks Fifth Avenue Opening in Mexico, and then in black jeans and a black bomber jacket whilst promoting Wilhelmina Models in New York.

This time she chose a pretty, flowing, knee-length black dress with a very chic velvet bow under the bust, for a sweet classy look. She teamed the dress with black tights, gorgeous satin courts and loads of bouncy blonde curls. Petra always gets it right!

Ahhh Petra, so beautiful! On Thursday, Petra Nemcova was out representing and promoting Wilhelmina Models in New York.

The Czech model looked gorgeous in her casual all black outfit. She wore black skinny jeans, with ankle boots, a thick knitted black jumper and a cool bomber jacket.

Her golden blonde hair was worn half-up/half-down and very natural and her make-up simple with just lashings of mascara and glowing skin.

Petra Shows Why Everyone Needs an LBD!

Friday, 30 November 2007

My fav model, the lovely Petra Nemcova, looked appropriately tanned and glowing at the Opening of Saks Fifth Avenue in Mexico yesterday.

Petra wore the classic party look, a little black dress with black pointed courts. Her sexy bubble mini dress, with beaded neckline showed off her long legs perfectly, and her gold jewellery kept things glitzy.

As usual, Petra wore hardly any make-up and wore her hair simple with a half-up/half-down straight do. You look great girl!

Happy Halloween From Hollywood!!!

Friday, 2 November 2007

Heidi Klum is the Queen of Halloween cos she goes aaaaaall out every year with her costume. This year she hosted her 8th annual Halloween Party in L.A. in a fabulous cat costume! Many people stop at ears and a tail but not Heidi! She went for a full on velvet catsuit with integrated platform shoes.

Best Celeb Halloween Costume 2007!

If you like chic and sophisticated, you would have loved Petra Nemcova's sexy Cleopatra costume. With a black wig, fake tan and a slinky white dress, not too mention her egyption pose, she almost looked like the real thing!

Christina - this is getting ridiculous! Just admit your preganant!! We're all happy for you!!

But anyway, in terms of her outfit Christina definately filled the brief of a Halloween costume - it was scary!! I'm not really sure what she was supposed to be, maybe a spider Queen?? But I love the gigantic, frizzy wig, scary make-up (or is that her eveyrday look :P) and spider hat. And Jordan as a vampire was adorable lol.

Paris Hilton went the tried and tested route in a skimpy version of a professional uniform. Paris went for the sexy soldier look though I'm sure the real soldiers would never team their outift with suspenders!

And finally, if you're one of those boring peopl who hates to dress up for Halloween, just follow Leelee Sobieski's lead and why a stylish outfit of your choice and then carry around a dummy's head.........no, I don't get it either.

Try a Volumous Skirt

Thursday, 25 October 2007

There are two kinds of skirts to wear this season and they are both total opposites. You can either go for the pencil shape, or the tulip shape, and whilst the classic pencil skirt is proving highly popular, a select few trend setting celebs are standing out in their volumous tulip skirts and looking fab!

Here's why you should try the tulip! :)

Brittany Snow emphasized the drama of a volumous skirt in this blood red, bandeau dress she wore to the 11th Annual Hollywood Awards on Monday. The gorgeous actress looked great with her milky skin and bright blonde hair, looking almost goth like against the strong colour of the dress and her round toe black courts.

For more pics

Also wearing the style was Jamie Lynn Sigler at the Environmental Media Association Awards in L.A. yesterday in a cream, high-waited tulip skirt with a trendy bow detail and a soft delicate, grey bandeau top. Her fabulous, stacked, burgandy courts added colour and her soft curls made the whole look veyr romantic. She looked beautiful.

For more pics

Finally is Petra Nemcova, doing the sophisticated version of the volumous skirt in an outfit fit for the office. The stunning model wore a black tulip skirt and tucked in, crisp, white shirt with black court shoes. She added a fun edge to the outfit by folding back the ends of her sleeves, slicking back her hair into a high ponytail and accessorising with a multi-chain, gold necklace.

Ok, now I've got to go sorry, I'm off to buy myself a tulip skirt :)

THIS is How to Wear Purple!!

Thursday, 4 October 2007

One of my favourite models, Petra Nemcova, showed the rest of us mere mortals just how to wear this season's big colour trend, purple! She wore this long, bandeau, purple dress to the H.E.L.P Fundraiser at Cipriani on Tuesday and looked absolutely stunning!

The dress had a lovely jewelled, black belt under the bust and she carried a stylish silver clutch bag.

Beautiful Inside and Out

Friday, 28 September 2007

Gorgeous model and humanitarian, Petra Nemcova, was at Elton John's Aids Foundation Benefit on Tuesday, doing her part for the world and looking amazing whilst doing it.

I saw her talking about the tsunami on A Model Life with Petra Nemcova and I was so impressed by her courage and ability to talk openly despite all she's been through. She really seems like such a lovely person.

She looked pretty and angelic at the benefit in this long flowing white dress with a delicate floral pattern and a fabulous halter neck. Her gold sandals are just showing from underneath her dress and she coordinated with chunky gold bangles. Keeping it simple and sweet.

Bubbly blonde Hayden Panettiere was seen strolling the streets of West Hollywood yesterday looking cute in the sun. Hayden wore a simple black and grey trapeze dress with stylish white rimmed sunglasses and a bright purple bag.

Fergie Ferg and her golden blonde locks were at the Fergie for Kipling Handbag Launch yesterday in a beautiful black chiffon mini dress and some seriosuly funky black and white shoes. Her hair looked really beautiful curled like that don't you think?

For more pics of Fergie

Christina Aguilera was glowing in a purple maxi dress on Monday in Santa Monica, which she teamed with a grey cardigan and a long gold necklace. The neckline on the dress is really hot and I love how she's matched her eye make-up to the colour (which looks great with her platinum blonde hair!).

For more pics of Christina

British blonde Sienna Miller was in New York yesterday looking cute and casual in skinny jeans, an off-white wife beater and a cool, multicoloured shawl. She accessoriesed with silver gladiator sandals and big hoop earrings.

The formerly brunette Hilary Duff is now back to her blonde roots and looking great. She was out to dinner last week in NYC with her boyfriend Mike Comrie wearing a gorgeous orange and gold dress, black leggins and cute black platforms. This outfit looks young, fun and stylish and Hilary's the perfect celeb to pull it off!

Our last stylish blonde celeb is the stunning Petra Nemcova who was at the Imitation of Christ Launch Party on Tuesday sporting a haaaaaaaaaawt leopard print dress with plunging neckline and assymetric hemline. She let the dress take the lime light with simple black court shoes and a black clutch and wore her hair half up-half down and straight.

Does She Always Look This Good??

Sunday, 15 July 2007

Petra Nemcova, seen here leaving the Extra Network Studios in Times Square on Friday, looks like she's in an ad campaign!

Seriously, does she always look this good? She looks like she walks around permanently with a wind machine to blow her hair! I guess that's why she's a model?

I love this powdery blue colour on her. It is a hard colour to pull off, but with her black pumps and glowing skin she makes it look easy. Don't you just hate her?? Lol.

Petra Nemcova Knows the Importance of Saving the Earth

Tuesday, 10 July 2007

Model Petra Nemcova was among the many celebrities who appeared at the Live Earth Concerts on Saturday. Petra clearly knows the importance of saving the planet after surviving the tsunami which took the life of her then fiance.

Two and a half years later, Petra has moved on with her life and is looking beautiful and happy and trying to help others at the same time.

This little bubble dress is so adorable, especially the buttons, and I love her sling back courts too.

Petra Nemcova Makes Looking Fabulous Seem Easy in NYC

Friday, 22 June 2007

Petra Nemcova, supermodel and ex of scruffy singer James Blunt (what was she thinking?!) was spotted strolling the streets of NYC whilst chatting on her phone.

Her outfit is pretty and casual. I love the loose, feminine top and I am such a bit fan of black jeans. It's nice to see also that she's not doing the typical skinny black jeans look but instead has opted for far more flattering boot cut ones. Her silver flat dolly shoes make this outfit shine. Love it!
