Top 10 Best Dressed - BET Awards 2008!
Monday, 30 June 2008
So last week the 2008 BET Awards were held in L.A., but who were the 10 best dressed celebs in attendance in my opinion?:
At number 10 is plastic rapper Lil' Kim. While her face may be ruined by cosmetic surgery, and her wig is worse than Tyra's, the pencil dress with plunging neckline is actually a pretty sexy fit and the purple colour is on trend.
I like the cute little bow shoes too! Now if only she got a new hairstylist and make-up artist...
Also rocking the purple trend at number 9 was the beautiful Nia Long, in a volumous plum mini dress. I love the draped grecian style, but the excessive volume on the hips isn't all that flattering. The colour however looks amazing on her.
Bringing a touch of glam and bling to the event at number 8 is Ashanti. I suppose she had to make an impact as she is back on the music scene with a new album, and that she did in her black floor-length gown, with thigh high split and sparkly silver chain embellishments.
The Marchesa Fall 2007 dress is a little over the top for me but her black sandals were frigging fantastic! I think a more sublte slit would have improved this look no end.
Alicia Keys is at number 7 because I absolutely love the colour of her strapless pink David Meister dress. The feisty singer teamed the simple dress with black and white Sergio Rossi shoes.

Hip-Hop video vixen's are not usually known for their class, but that's exactly what Angel Lola Luv exuded on the BET Awards Red Carpet last week, landing her at number 6 on my best dressed list.
The curvacious model's body looked stunning in a black dress with fitted bodice and flared skirt with tutu style netting underneath. In any other colour this could look costumey, but in black it looks sophisticated. However, I don't like her drap, flat hair style and the chunky gold necklace is unnecessary.
At number 5 is BET News presenter Danella looking lady like in a beautiful floral black chiffon gown with a plunging halter neck. The dress has the right amount of class and sexiness and the floral print is so fashionable right now.
Bringing some vibrant colour to the occassion at number 4 is the gorgeous Lauren London. Her yellow strapless mini dress looked fashion forward worn with her black Givenchy strappy open toe ankle boots and polka straight long hair.
And so now the top three, at number 3 is Jenece Johnson wearing a salmon pink version of the ever popular Herve Leger dresses with simple silver sandals and silver earrings. Sexy, bright and clean cut. I love it!
At number 2 is Keyshia Cole's stunning performance gown a tie dye chiffon gown with pure white bodice. Her red carpet look was too severe with her cropped hair cute and garish yellow volumous dress, but on stage later on she looked feminine and beautiful with her soft curls and glamorous gown.
The colour combination was beautiful showing that tie dye can be sophisticated and doesn't have to mean hippy!
And finally at number 1 is..................Rihanna! The queen of the red carpet strikes again in an attention grabbing, lemon Giambattista Valli Spring 2008 tiered gown.
The fitted bodice was delicate with its spaghetti straps, subtle frills and deep v-neck while the full-length, tiered skirt was perfect for twirling around the red carpet, as Rihanna did!
The thing that makes this whole look for me was her simple but stunning silver heart pendant, and her short cropped hair do allowed for the dress to take centre stage.
When is someone else gonna step up and take Rihanna's red carpet crown from her??

L-R: Alicia Keys in Armani Prive, Natasha Bedingfield in Reem Acra, Carrie Underwood in Zuhair Murad
So they've all walked the red carpet at the Grammy Awards and now it's time for the rest of us to pick our best and worst dressed!
1. My favourite look of last night's awards was Carrie Underwood's floral Zuhair Murad Spring 2008 gown. It had a beautiful halter neck and and was so pretty and stylish, matched with her purple clutch.
2. My second favourite goes to Alicia Keys who wore a dramatic navy blue high necked Armani Prive gown with a full glamorous train. Her pink lipstick and pink clutch kept the look young and fun.
3. And my third favourite was Brit Natasha Bedingfield (who is very hit or miss in the fashion stakes these days!) who looked like an Old Hollywood icon in her strapless purple Reem Acra Spring 2008 gown. I love the sexy waist belt and her vintage curls.
L-R: Faith Hill in Valentino, Fergie in Calvin Klein, Beyonce in Elie Saab
4. My fourth fav gown was Beyonce's beautiful Elie Saab Spring 2008 strapless ice queen gown. The silver and sky blue gown fitted her curves perfectly, but despite initially liking her new shorter hair, on second glance I think it would have suited the dress better had she worn it up.
5. I put Faith Hill in fifth place for her one shouldered Valentino Spring 2008 gown in classic black (which was one of my fav of the Valentino collection!) which looked sophisticated and sleek.
6. And the last of my favourite gowns goes to Fergie who looked sweet and summery in a strapless yellow Calvin Klein gown. I would have placed her higher but I don't think the gown quite fitted her right. Is is just me??

L-R: Keyshia Cole in Marc Bouwer, Rihanna in Zac Posen, Miley Cyrus in Celine, Corinne Bailey Rae in Luella
Now it is the Grammy's, which is meant to be more fun and young than some of the other award shows, so many starlets chose shorter dresses.
7. My favourite being Rihanna's unusual blue Zac Posen Spring 2008 dress. I love the trendy sheer straps and the feathered skirt, especially with her silver strappies and natural make-up.
8. Miley Cyrus comes in 8th place for her silver and white layered Celine Spring 2007 shift dress. Love the dress, hate the inches of make-up and cheap hair extensions.
9. In 9th place I've chosen Keyshia Cole for her adorable black Marc Bouwer Fall 2007 shift with a cinched in silver waist. Simple but flatterring. It's just ashame about the tattoos!
10. And finally, 10th on my best dressed list is british songstress Corinne Bailey Rae who took a fashion risk that paid off with her blue Luella Spring 2008 that was made out of plastic poppies! Unusual but it looked fab!
Whose did you like and whose did you hate??

Saturday, 4 August 2007

Here's Keyshia Cole, one of the nominees from part 4 of the poll to find the most stylsih singer, at her album release party for Just Like You this year.
She has a very hip-hop style but likes to feminise it also. Her she is in a sexy and stylish denim mini dress (I own one lol) gangstered up with a lot of chunky gold jewellery. And she's even sporting her very own Pob :)
For more pics of Keyshia
P.S. The other nominees coming up shortly

Here's some more recent celeb styles!:

Keyshia Cole looked cute and casual at Paris Hilton's beach party in Malibu this week. The singer arrived in a white mini skirt, adorable striped rugby shirt and black ballet pumps (which she promptly took off!). I don't like her hair colour but the rest of it looks good and I love her silver bracelet.
Sisters and look-a-likes, Penelope and Monica Cruz, both attended the launch of the new Mango collection in Ibiza on Monday in beautiful black dresses. Both sisters look stunning but overall I prefer Monica's look here. I think her dress is more flattering and her dark eye make-up looks good.

Here's another Rachel Bilson candid, but this one's from Tuesday when she apparently went lingerie shopping. I adore this navy blue t-shirt dress on her and putting the brown belt over it makes it look so stylish.

Here's another celeb who attended the re-opening of Decadestwo in L.A. yesterday, Diana Ross's daughter, Tracey Ellis Ross. The comedienne/actress looked amazing in this pink puff sleeved dress and oversized green earrings. A bold choice, but she pulls it off with ease!

Finally, Kimberly Stewart was spotted going to the offices of modelling agency "Drop Dead Gorgeous" in L.A. on Tuesday. She certainly has the legs to model as demonstrated in this stylish, print mini dress. I love this cute style!
