What's Hot in Hollywood?!
Monday, 21 April 2008
Us Weekly Magazine held their Hot Hollywood Hottest Style Makers Party in Hollywood last week, and the fun event was attended by a host of stylish yound stars.
Among them was reality tv star, and more recently fashion designer, Lauren Conrad.
So what is hot in Hollywood right now as far as style goes? LC was the most daringly dressed of the night in a turquoise and black sequined dress from the Catherine Malandrino Resort 2007 Collection. It certainly was a different look and very bold and bright which is perfect for summer.
Lauren showed up with bff Lo Bosworth and new "frenemy" Stephanie Pratt. However her once inseperable bestie Audrina Patridge was no where to be seen. Are the rumours of trouble in paradise true??
Another colour trend at the event was purple and lilac hues as seen on Sanaa Lathan, Heidi Klum, and the Us Weekly carpet!Sanaa looked very stylish in a purple and cream print ruffled dress but ruined it a little with some odd looking, clumpy grey shoes.
Heidi kept things simple in a strapless purple mini with a sweetheart neckline worn wth crocodile print peep toes. She looked ok but I don't like red nail varnish with a purple dress and the dress made her figure look really boyish. Maybe she needs some kind of a waist belt to give her shape??
The other big colour of the night was green.Rapper Eve was looking funky in a lime green satin Jay Godfrey Spring 2008 dress with a cool zip down front and piping detail. I love this dress, and teamed with black courts and a blakc clutch it looked sophisticated but fun.
Also in green was Jenna Dewan, who looked pretty in an apple green shift dress, with a little embroidered clutch bag and delicate silver strappy shoes.
If you're not such a huge fan of colour, or you want to look uber sophisticated, neutral colours are very much "in" right now.
The Lipstick Jungle actress Lindsay Price looked classy in a gold satin bubble hem skirt with a cream ruffled blouse and nude peep toes.
Rob Kardashian's girlfriend, Adrienne Bailon of The Cheetah Girls, looked stunning and very hot in a short, silver dress which had a fitted, high-waisted skirt and a contrasting loose top in a soft, shimmery fabric.
The dress had sparkle, but not too much to look tacky and her gold and turquoise beaded sandals kept things young. She was my best dressed of the event!
Finally, as always, there were certain celebs who played it safe in classic, easy-to-wear, black. But they still looked great!
Christina Milian looked super sexy in a strappy black mini dress with a gold chain neckline. I loved her slicked back hair and smokey eyeshadow, and her black wedges were the perfect spring/summer touch.
Like Lauren Conrad, Jordana Brewster wore a black and white embroidered, cutout dress from the Catherine Malandrino Resort 2007 Collection. The pretty actress teamed her girly dress with black sling backs and a big silver heart pendant.
Whose outfits did you like best??

Links to this post Email this postOMG I Spot A Trend! - Black and White Dresses
Wednesday, 19 March 2008
Jay Godfrey featured some gorgeous black and white dresses in his Spring 2008 Collection, one was even worn by starlet Kristen Bell. Since then, many other starlets have been photographed in a range of little black and white dresses and it's beginning to become a trend!
Katie Holmes wore a black and white check draped Alexander McQueen dress to the Essence Magazine Luncheon last month. She added a dash of subtle colour with purple peep toes and looked uber sophisticated.
Ashanti was at 106 & Park last month where she wore a v-neck black and white check dress. The peep hole and the pencil shape of the dress made it look sexy as did the black platforms and waist belt. I love how her hot pink lip gloss pops next to the monochrome outfit!
Showing that check isn't the only wear to do the black and white dress trend, Australian actress Rose Byrne wore a feminine black and white print dress to the Red Bull Season Launch Party in Melbourne, Australia last week. This is my fav black and white dress! It's so floaty and pretty.
I love love love her metallic pink skinny waist belt and matching clutch not to mention her gorgeous round toe black pumps. I wish she would have brushed her hair though!
Cold Case star Kathryn Morris wore a printed black and white dress earlier this month to the Alliance for Children's Rights Awards Gala. The shift dress had an inbuilt black buckle belt detail around the waist. Kathryn brightened up the look with red lipstick and matching pointed red courts for a bold look.
Finally, Naomi Watts wore a strappy black and white dress whilst appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week and looked super stylish. The A-lister accessorised with a skinny black waist belt and gorgeous strappy black shoes. She kept everything else simple and looked beautiful!
I love the black and white trend and I think Rose and Katie pulled it off best by managing to make it look soft and chic.
What do you think of the trend??

Diamond Information Center and InStyle hosted a Luncheon yesterday attended by tons of really stylish celebs who pulled out all the stops on the pink carpet!
My gold stars for best dressed go to Sarah Jane Morris (left), Leighton Meester (middle) and Minka Kelly (right).
Sarah wore a sexy grey pencil dress jazzed up just enough with patent red peep toes and a patent red skinny waist belt.
Gossip Girl Leighton was my personal favourite of the night in a flirty and youthful black dress with white star print. The short floaty number fitted her great and had one shoulder strap - very on trend! I also loved her funky shoes and grey clutch. Her hair looks fantastic cut shorter and curled, and if you look closely her make-up looks really fresh and lovely. Wow I can't gush enough!
And Minka also looked really hot in a white pocketed shift and red patent peep toes, especially with her loose updo and smokey eyes!
Silver stars go to Anna Friel (left), Angie Harmon (middle) and Kristen Bell (right).
British actres Anna looked like an old Hollywood starlet in a black satin pencil skirt, red patent shoes and waist belt, and a daring chiffon polka dot top with sheer back.
Angie Harmon looked sophisticated in a black off-the-shoulder number from Christian Dior by John Galliano Fall 2007, with beautiful Japanese inspired embrodiery matched well with her gold clutch and black jewelled heels. Luckily she kept her hair and make-up simple or it could have been too much.
And Heroes actress Kristen Bell was gorgeous in one of the Jay Godfrey Spring 2008 dresses featured in our exclusive interview with him! The strapless Jackson Pollack scratch print party dress is one of Jay's personal favs! It looked great on Kristen who wore it with just black peep toes and a big smile!
And the bronze stars for best dressed go to Jennifer Love Hewitt (left), Perrey Reeves (middle) and Jennifer Morrison (right).
Jennifer Love Hewitt carried on the pretty, girly look she's been fond of lately with a soft grey shift with a full floaty skirt. I like it especially with her silver glittery shoes but to rank higher on my best dressed list she should try changing things up a bit.
I like Perrey's cream and black dress from the waist down; the bow around the waist and the skirt are lovely, but I'm not fond of the top which looks very ill-fitting. What swung it for me though was her adorable little structured bag!
And finally Jennifer Morrison wore a gorgeous outfit of grey flared skirt with oversized pockets and tucked in cream shirt with oversized sleeves. The silhouette is stunning, as are the individual items but a splash of colour in her shoes or bag would have brightened things up no end.

Wednesday, 9 January 2008
Have you heard of Jay Godfrey? If you haven’t yet, trust me when I say you’ll know his name soon! Jay is an up and coming fashion designer from Toronto and now based in New York, whose sexy and youthful dresses have been a hit with Hollywood’s hottest stars.

Hayden Panettiere (left) and Eva Mendes (right) in Jay Godfrey
Recognised for his signature one shoulder dresses and bows, Jay can count Hayden Panettiere, Gabrielle Union, Eva Mendes and Carmen Electra among the celebrities who are already fans of his cocktail dresses and full length gowns.

OMG I Love Her Style has a sneak peak at his incredible Spring 2008 Collection and a fabulous interview with the man himself. Check it out!:
Q: Hi Jay, first of all I want to say I love your designs! There have been so many questions I’ve been dying to ask you! Firstly, I was wondering how you got into fashion in the first place, since you started out in finance! Was it always a passion of yours?
A: I’ve always loved fashion. While my colleagues in investment banking were reading the Wall Street Journal, I was reading Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. One day, after 14 months in finance, I decided “enough was enough” and I left Solomon Smith Barney to pursue my dream of designing. I enrolled in Parson, interned at Oscar de la Renta, started my own label. I’m the perfect example of what can happen when you set out to follow your dreams and then they start coming true.

Q: You definitely are! With your success, you’ve had the opportunity to dress so many beautiful and famous women, what epitomises a Jay Godfrey woman to you?
A: The Jay Godfrey woman is confident, strong, and sexy. She’s fashion-forward and never afraid of taking calculated risks.

Q: Sounds like many of the celebs you've dressed! Is there a celebrity you haven’t dressed yet who you’d love to see in one of your designs?
A: I would love to dress Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Angelina Jolie (left), Queen Rania of Jordan (middle) and Cameron Diaz (right)
Q: Interesting choices. Which young starlet do you think we should all be watching out for as a future fashion icon? Who’s style do you love right now?
A: Diane Kruger, Charlotte Casiraghi, and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld (left), Charlotte Casiraghi (middle) and Diane Kruger (right)
Q: So many young people look up to the celebrities who wear your clothes as fashion icons, but who is your fashion icon?
A: David Bowie, Tommy Nutter, Keith Richards, and Karl Lagerfeld… I can never chose just one.

Iconic Chanel Fashion Designer Karl Lagerfeld
Q: How would you describe your own personal style? How do you like to dress?
A: A little bit Savile Row, a little bit Rock and Roll.
Q: Very cool. Who or what would you say inspires your collections?
A: I take inspiration from old photographs, exotic landscapes or places, as well as the treatment of color and surfaces in other art forms like interior design. I also look to great architects like Richard Serra and sculptors like Santiago Calatrava. Finally, I take cues from trend-setting confident and sexy women like my wife, Dara.

Fitted White Dress With Contrast Straps - Jay Godfrey Spring 2008
Q: That's so sweet! How long does it take you to create an entire collection, from conception to the runway? And how long before a season are you thinking about what that collection will be like?
A: It takes about three months to create an entire collection. I start by sketching. I let the sketches sit for a few days and then I go back and edit. The designs I select at this point usually make it into the final collection. We sample the pieces, take appointments with buyers, and ship to stores a few months later.
Being a designer is a 24-hour a day job. I am constantly thinking about new designs and the next season. It’s a lot less regimented than one would think.
Q: Sounds like an interesting job. I’ve seen your Spring 2008 Collection and it’s so fun and feminine, what styles do you think fashionistas should be stocking up on now to be ahead of the pack for next season?
Orange Ombre Drop Waist Short Dress - Jay Godfrey Spring 2008
A: Ombre fabrics, anything with zippered trim, silhouettes that show off the new erogenous zone: the shoulder.

Q: You are famous for the one shoulder dresses! I’ve fallen in love with your scratch-print shift dress as well as your white strapless bow dress, but which are your favourite pieces from your Spring 2008 Collection?

Scratch Print Shift Dress (left and middle) and White Strapless Bow Dress (right) both from the Jay Godfrey Spring 2008 Collection
A: My favorites are the Jackson Pollack scratch-print party dress and the zipper shift dress.

Q: As for this season, what is your favourite fashion trend for autumn/winter 2007-2008?
A: Bold color.

Petra Nemcova (left and right) and Brittany Snow (middle) both wearing Jay Godfrey dresses
Q: And is there a trend you hate and want to banish?!
A: Flats for evening.
Q: Ha ha! Better get those heels out girls! Do you have any advice for any budding young designers who may be reading this and wondering how to get into the fashion industry?
A: Start simple and build from there. Become good at one thing before you become good at many.

Q: And finally, your star has risen so quickly since you launched you first collection two years ago, what’s next for you? What can we expect to see from you in the future? Do you any exciting new projects coming up?

Zoe Saldana (left), Vanessa Hudgens (middle) and Katherine McPhee (right) all wearing Jay Godfrey
A: I am expanding the collection to include contemporary separates and day dresses for Fall 2009. Eventually, I would love to get into other categories such as accessories.
Thank you so much for your time Jay, it truly has been an honour! I’d like to wish you the best of luck in the future and I look forward to seeing the next collection of Jay Godfrey designs.
If you’d like to get your hands on a Jay Godfrey design, they can be found at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Intermix stores as well as high-end boutique stores in the United States, Canada, Asia and Germany.

American Idol runner-up, Katherine McPhee (left) and High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens (right) posed side by side in their stunning little dresses for Christmas in Washington over the weekend.
The stars put their best fashion feet forward to perform for George Bush along with fellow star Ne-Yo.
Katherine wore a fun flirty black mini dress by talented designer Jay Godfrey with a satin ruffled skirt.
Vanessa chose a champagne coloured beaded tunic dress from the Jenny Packman Spring 2008 Collection and looked very glamorous.

Friday, 19 October 2007
Ok so I wouldn't go so far as to say she looks amazing, the shoes are a little tacky and she has Kate Moss style wrinkley knees; but all in all Tara Reid looks pretty damn good here at the L.A. Premier of Reservation Road on Thursday.
She wore this cute, silver and black babydoll dress by Jay Godfrey and accessorised with long dangly silver earrings and a stylish clutch bag. She swept back her hair into a sophisticated updo and wore a big confident smile!
Good to see you back on form Tara!

The delightful Sophia Bush attended the premier of 1408 recently looking simple but beautiful in this light cream strappless drape dress and absolutely stunning gold t-bar shoes! Her make-up was fresh and her curly hair looks so healthy plus I love her gold and silver accessories.

Beyonce, Solange and Momma Knowles were all out in force to launch their clothing line, House of Dereon, in Toronto, Canada yesterday. All the ladies looked lovely in their black and gold outfits. I particularly like Solange's shirt dress and waist belt but Beyonce's figure just looks amazing in that dress.
On Tuesday it was the premier of High School Musical 2 in Disneyland and the young stars of the film did not dissapoint in the style stakes. Ashley Tisdale went cute and fashionable in a goregous little strappless white dress with button detail and some seriously sparkly shoes.
However, her co-star Vanessa Hudgens stole the show, looking drop dead gorgeous in this beautiful and sexy floor length red Jay Godfrey gown. There's not much I can say about this dress, it pretty much speaks for itself! I also love her curly updo and beautiful eye make-up.
I don't see much of Julia Stiles lately but I'm glad to see she's still about and looking great. Here she is at the Bourne Ultimatum premier in London yesterday looking lovely in a little navy dress with a tie around the waist, a pretty, side-parted up-do and smouldering, dark purple, eye make-up.
And finally.....wow! Mandy Moore is smoking hot in this pic from the New York Premier of Dedication on Tuesday in her silky black and tweed mix, pencil dress and dark red platform heels. Her hair is a beautiful auburn colour at the moment and looked great in this halfup-halfdown curly style, and her pale skin and dark red lips look so dramatic.

Links to this post Email this postMost Stylish BFF's!
Tuesday, 14 August 2007
In honour of Season 3 of The Hills, which began yesterday (yaaaaaaay!!), I've decided to do a post on the most stylish BFF's on the show, now that Heidi's outta the click - Lauren (LC) and Audrina.
Here we have Audrina and LC at The Hills Season 3 Premier this week looking equally great with their very different styles. Audrina's look is hot and fun, in her multicoloured, sequined, mini dress and cute shoes. LC opted for a more demure, but seriously stylish, look with her beige and black dress. The back of this dress is sheer and beautiful. Both of the girls have great hairstyles too which leads me to...
(For more pics from the premier party)
...a picture of the girls earlier that day at Warren Tricomi Salon in LA, where they went to get dolled up. Audrina went for a casual and youthful look in her camouflage mini skirt, stretchy black vest, brown sandals and long length necklace. LC on the other hand looked very ladylike in her super cute bright yellow chiffon top, skinny jeans, black waist belt and black pumps.
For more pics from Warren Tricomi
In the run up to the show, Lauren and Audrina have been doing a lot of promotional work including a visit to TRL last week where they both put their own twist on a blue mini dress and beige heels. Audrina looked sexy in a tight fitting turquoise Jay Godfrey dress and beige strappy sandals but I prefer LC's look of a loose fitting navy dress (love them!) and round toe beige heels. Lauren's curly hair looks great too.
It's not all work for the BFF's though, they party twice as hard as they work! Here they are leaving Les Deux last week (with Lo also who looked great for those who want to check out the pictures) looking like they had a great time!
Audrina went for a simple black mini dress, accessorised with oversized black bag with gold chain straps, gold bracelets and long pendant necklace.
LC wore a really fun looking, sparkly, navy mini dress and tied her hair into a sweet side ponytail.
And just for fun, here are Lauren and Audrina looking adorably stylish at the Hollywood Prom 2007 recently. It seems like they swapped looks here! Lauren opted for a short, tight, sexy, satin bandeau dress in burgandy with strappy sandals, a red corsage and matching bright red lipstick. I prefer Audrina's look here though because her peach, knee length halter dress with that high collar is sooooooo cool and looks great with her black heels and black clutch. For more pics from the Prom

Emmy Rossum looked as sweet as Tweety Pie himself at the Tweety Boutique opening party on Wednesday in an adorable black dress with white trim and clinched in waist. I love the yellow clutch that she's teamed with it and her natural, rosy make-up.
For more pics of Emmy
Christina Applegate chose a simple black dress with gold button details for the ABC Summer All-Star Party yesterday and made the look hot with bright red lips. I love the round scoop neckline on the dress.
For more pics of Christina
Like Emmy Rossum, Molly Sims chose to team a little black dress with a yellow clutch for the Tweety Colletion Launch Party. I can't decide whose dress I like best! They both look great, I love the polka dots on Molly's dress, the cute ribbon and the bandeau style of it.
For more pics of Molly
Young starlet Vanessa Hudgens looked amazingly stylish (as usual!) at the ABC Summer All-Star Party in her very unusual cream Jay Godfrey dress, snake skin print shoes and gold accessories. Her hair looks beautiful too, I love the loose natural curls.
Jessica Alba was looking her usual beautiful self at Comic-Con (who knew??) this week in a super cool, fitted denim dress. Her wavy hair looks great and her make-up is fresh but the shoes are a bit too, uhm, goooooooooold for my liking!
Finally my fellow welsh chick, Catherine Zeta-Jones, looked absolutely lovely at a luncheon to celebrate her new movie "No Reservations" yesterday where she wore a black dress with white trim (a popular style right now!!) and goooooooooorgeous shoes. Whilst most celebs are accessorising with gold right now Catherine bucks the trend and opts for silver and she even matches with her smoky grey and silver eye make-up.
