I Need Your Help Please?!
Wednesday, 25 June 2008
I'm off to the hairdressers this weekend and I'd like to take the plunge and get a fringe cut in........again! I do this every couple of years and then grow it back out!
Anyway I've rounded up photos of my favourite celebrity fringes/bangs and would like to know which one everyone else thinks is the nicest. For the record, I have naturally straight, black hair with a medium texture.

Friday, 20 June 2008
Following the 67th Annual Peabody Awards on Monday, supermodel Heidi Klum attended The Project Runway Party.
The host of the show, which happens to be one of my favs, dazzled at the party in a strapless black and white dress.
I love the fitted style, and the slight volume in the skirt is interesting. Overall the look is very sexy worn with simple black sling backs.
I much prefer Heidi's hair a little longer and more glamorous with her fringe side-swept, instead of the heavy rounded fringe she was sporting. Do you think it's an improvement??

Links to this post Email this postChanel Boutique Opens on Robertson Boulevard
Wednesday, 4 June 2008
The most stylish celebs, decked out in their favourite Chanel outfits, showed up last Thursday to celebrate the opening of the new Chanel Boutique on Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
Which five starlets wore Chanel best though?:
At 5 is actress Malin Akerman who looked fashion forward in a black glittery all in-one suit with a plunging neckline. What a daring look! This could look dated quickly so I'm not sure I like the 70s style Farrah Fawcett flicks with it, but the sleek, silver clutch is lovely.
At 4 is one of my very favourite actresses, the beautiful Rachel Bilson! I love how she's made her new fringe versatile by wearing it pushed to the side and I love, love, love her acid orange clutch.
The frilled shift dress is cute but it drowns Rachel's tiny frame a little.
At 3 is Michelle Trachtenberg, who for some reason unknown to be, Chanel did not want people to know attended the store opening! Apparently they asked photo agencies not to post photos of her at the event, but wisely they ignored those wishes!
Michelle looked chic in a high-waisted, grey knee-length skirt with a classic black vest tucked in and a pretty silver belt to accessorise. I wonder if she'll wear Chanel any more??
Youngster Emma Roberts brought some much needed colour to the event with a stunning, floral print halter-neck maxi dress. The style, the colour, the print........I love it all! And it fits her perfectly. This look is just the right amount of fun and stylish in one and the little gold clutch adds some glam.
And at number 1 is my favourite Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester! She looked elegant and gorgeous in a little black Chanel dress with a fitted bodice, pleated skirt, and exquisite jewelled neckline. Teamed with simple black courts and a sophisticated updo she looks as proper as her character Blair Waldorf, but with a touch of Hollywood dazzle!

Audrina Patridge grabbed attention at the MTV Movie Awards 2008 on Sunday when she showed up sporting new bangs. Fast forward two days, and suddenly they've disappeared!
Yesterday Audrina attended the Nylon Magazine and MySpace Party to celebrate their 3rd Annual Music Issue and the fringe was no where in sight.
So either the fringe was just a hair piece, or she decided she didn't like it and has had extensions put in! Orrrrr, Audrina has scarily fast growing hair? Who knows!
Audrina wore a cool floral dress with a leather bodice and cute black pumps for quite a flirty, boho look.
Do you prefer Audrina with her striking blunt bangs or without for a more pretty and casual look??
I'm thinking of getting a finge myself at the moment..............hmmm.........

Links to this post Email this postBlondes in Black or Brunettes in Colour - Who's Maxim's Hottest!?
Sunday, 1 June 2008
Mens mag Maxim recently held their 2008 Hot 100 Party in L.A. which was attended by some of the hottest female celebs of the moment.
My favourite dressed blondes of the night all opted for simple, classic black.
Russian model and actress Anya Monzikova (left) wore a strapless, black lace mini dress with a sweetheart neckline. She teamed it with short Marilyn Monroe curls and red lipstick and nail polish for a va va voom look!
Also in a strapless mini dress was comedienne Amanda Bynes (right) who wore a gorgeous bubble hemmed dress with lace panels. She teamed the look with beige, strappy sandals and soft golden curls.
Finally was That 70s Show star Laura Prepon (middle), who looked sophisticated in a strapless black all-in-one with a patent waist belt. Nice!
So that was the blondes, but the brunettes seemed to be quite a bit more daring with colour!
The Hills hottie Audrina Patridge (left) didn't seem bothered that Lauren dropped her for Lo when she showed up looking stunning in a yellow Herve Leger mini dress. As is typical of all the Herve Leger creations, it was very fitted and left little to the imagination!
Christina Milian (middle) probably had the other girls green with envy in her one shouldered, skin tight green dress. The matching green hoops and multicoloured peep toes ruined the look though and left her looking like an 80s cast off. Unfortunate because the dress actually looks pretty good on her!
And finally for the brunettes we have actress Olivia Munn (right) who wore a floral, white, off-the-shoulder dress with a cute red belt tied around the waist. The look was very summery and pretty, especially with her tan and long, loose hair.
Who do you think won the fashion battle then?? The blondes or the brunettes?!

Thursday, 29 May 2008
Quite a few celebs showed up in their glad rags for the 50th Birthday Bash for designer Christian Audigier in L.A. last week includin Fergie who looked great in a contrasting pretty floral dress and bad girl leather jacket.
I love the green and beige dress, and the waist belt, but beige shoes woulda been better than black.
Mena Suvari went for top to toe leather for biker chick chic. She teamed the leather jacket and trousers with a vintage tee but glammed it all up with killer heels.
I'm glad she's got those hair extensions in though cos the hsort hair was not working for her!
Alesandra Ambrosio may be pregnant but she certainly doesn't look it! The supermodel wore a purple and blue ombre dress which looked like a bit of a sack on her. There are better ways to cover up a baby bump than that!
And finally there was Kim Kardashian. How did she get an invite?! I dont know what that gold satin cardi thingy is but she looked ridiculous. Try again Kim. She did take the opportunity to show off boy toy Reggie Bush though. Then again, when doesn't she?!Alessandra Ambrosio, Casual Event Style, Christian Audigier, Fergie, Hair, Kim Kardashian, Pregnant Celebs Written by Laura Jane at 9:50 PM | 0 comments

Sunday, 25 May 2008
So last month I made my very first trip to California for the Coachella Music Festival in Indio Palm Springs; and was I in for a treat!
The weather was boiling, the music was eclectic and the fashion.....so bohemian chic! I LOVED it!
So here's the run down of my best dressed artists at the event:
Kelly Osbourne, rock royalty born and bred, showed up on stage during the last few minutes of Mark Ronson's amazing set! I went nuts when she came on, and she looked so striking in a black and white hound tooth mini dress. It was a brave choice with Kelly's porcelein skin, jet black hair and red lipstick. She added a little cropped leather jacket just to remind us that she is a rockstar!
Another gorgeously stylish and porcelein skinned rocker was Jenny Lewis, the lead vocalist for one of my favourite bands Rilo Kiley. Jenny was adorable in high waisted short shorts, with a navy and white nautical top. She's got so much energy on stage and I love her heavy fringe and look curly hair.
Brit newby Kate Nash and the quirky Sia both sported one of the hottest trends; waist belts!
Kate wore a bright red version to add some funkyness to her check blue, floaty prairie dress.
Sia on the other hand, who was certainly the most smiley person I saw at the whole festival, wore her belt in the seasons most popular colour - purple. She wore it over a cute little denim waistcoat and a fashionable tie dye dress in differnet shades of purple and lilac.
And now to the best part! DUFFY!
The Welsh soul singer was amazing considering Coachella was her first ever festival. Her acoustic rendition of Syrup and Honey gave me tingles!
The pint sized star also looked great in a cool little empire waisted denim dress and simple flat brown peep toes.
And to top off my fabulous festival experience.......Duffy signed my CD! I was so excited and nervous to meet her that I forgot to mention to her that I speak Welsh (as does she, it's her first language)!
For those who care there's a picture below of me meeting Duffy and her signing my CD. She said she loved my leopard print headscarf (from Primark and really cheap for those in the UK).

It wasn't just the performers who were stylish though. Everywhere you looked there were fabulous women showing off their style!
Big trends were floaty little boho dresses, short shorts with cute tops and waistcoats, skinny head bands tied around the outside of long wavy hair in the style of Nicole Richie and of course, big oversized sunnies!
Anyway, I recommend everyone go to Coachella next year because it was amazing. It'll depend on how good next year's line up is though.

Tuesday, 13 May 2008
British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked chic in a multicoloured, strapless, feathered gown. I liked her matching blue jewelled clutch and her ever so stylish heavy fringe. Keeping the rest of her hair up was a wise choice.
Also brave in a multicoloured dress was one of my favourite fashionistas Kate Bosworth, wearing a vintage Chanel cocktail dress. The dress was edgy and fun, with a cute cut out neckline. Perfect for the woman who showed up on the arm of Karl Lagerfeld!
Also pretty cool was her choice of footwear for the occassion - Pierre Hardy multicoloured, sandals with transparent straps. I even liked her daring blue eyeshadow which could have been too much with the colourful dress and shoes, but she's young and pretty so she pulled it off!

Links to this post Email this postRihanna's a Great Best Friend!
Lovely lady Rihanna hosted a surprise birthday party for her best friend/assistant Melissa Forde in NYC last night.
Rihanna also used the party as an opportunity to show off her new tattoo, a bunch of little stars trailing down her back.
What do you think of it??
I myself wouldn't want it, but I guess it's kinda creative and different to what most people get done. And at least if she ever grown her hair out again it'll be covered! For now though, I'm loving the funky short hair do.
Rihanna showed off the tat by wearing a black leather mini dress with a low cut back, which looked surprisingly chic.
I don't like the bright blue nail polish though!

Jude Law's ex-misses and Kate Moss's BFF, Sadie Frost, attended the Proud Camden Gallery & Bar Launch Party last Thursday looking cool in a tomato-red shift dress and black leggings.
The look, complete with black pumps and a black clutch, is clean, fun and bright. Perfect for Spring.
I also like Sadie's busy-mum-on-the-go hair cut. Short, sweet and easy to style.

Links to this post Email this postThe Hills Season 3 Continues, and The Fashion Only Gets Better!
Wednesday, 26 March 2008
So what did you all think of the new Season 3 of The Hills episodes?? The funny moment when the 2 guys were fighting over Lauren's attention at the club, when Lauren burnt her Alberta Ferretti gown with her curling irons, when she got on the back of a scooter in a ball gown, Heidi's new lips?! OMG the drama just keeps getting funnier and more addictive!
Before the new episode was aired, the main ladies, Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port, all posed together in their fantastic outfits for the Premiere Party on Monday night.
Leading lady Lauren looked glam in a slinky navy gown with delicate gold straps and matching gold jewellry.
Sexy Audrina went summery in bright in a pretty yellow mini dress with a cute waist sash, accessorised with classic black peep toes.
Fashionista Whitney looked sweet in a white peasant top, floaty red mini skirt and dual tone strappy shoes.
I love all the looks but my favourite at a push would probably be Audrina's because it's so simple, but Whitney's shoes are my fav!
In the hair department however Lauren is the clear winner. The new fashion designer has been setting hair trends recently with her stylish braids, and she wore the look again on Monday night.
LC wore a thick braid across the front of her side-parted hair and then tied the rest of her hair back into a low side ponytail with loose waves.
Love it!

Tuesday, 25 March 2008
One of the big fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2008 has to be ombre prints.
Adorable actress Adrianne Palicki attended the Paleyfest in Hollywood last Thursday looking fresh and summery in a floaty, blue ombre printed dress.
Worn with just white satin peep toes and a casual bob, the look is very sweet and girly.

Links to this post Email this postOMG I Spot a Trend! - Best LBD's of the Week
Little black dresses never go out of style, especially if you modernise them slightly to fit the trends of each season. Here are my favourites as seen on celebs recently!:
Thandie Newton wore a high-necked, lace, black dress to the NYC Premiere of her new movie, Run, Fat Boy, Run last Thursday. The floral lace and the mini style with black tights are very trendy aspects as is the waist belt, whilst overall the look is classic, especially with Thandie's simple make-up and chic updo.
Also updating her LBD was Lauren Conrad, who wore a stylish one-shoulder, assymetrical black dress to the Late Show with David Letterman in New York City last Tuesday. Lauren looked simple and elegant and accessorised with black peep toes. For fans of The Hills like myself, the new episodes with the trip to France and Brody's new girlfriend (but not with Kristin Cavallari :() started last night!
Melissa George proved how sultry black can be in a fitted basque style pencil dress with satin side panels and patent court shoes, that she wore to the screening of Stop-Loss last Thursday. I do like the natural look but I think the glamorous dress needs a little more glam in the hair and make-up departments.
Finally we have Lucy Liu wearing the simplest LBD of all to the 2008 UNICEF and Esquire Nationwide Tap Project in NYC last Wednesday, a black v-neck which could eaisly transition from season to season. Lucy gave the look some edge with the most gorgeous animal print pumps ever! Love them! I also love her side-swept updo.

I love Angela Bassett's elegant and timeless style, so I was glad to see her receive a much deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. It's about time!
Angela looked lovely in a stylish cream lace dress with contrasting wide black straps and a black bow.
The dress had a vintage feel about it and looked so classy with her beautiful side-swept chignon. The updo also allowed her to show off her subtly gorgeous pearl earrings by Chopard.

Links to this post Email this postOMG Whose Style Was Better?! - Selita vs Kimora
Both model/designer Kimora Lee and supermodel Selita Ebanks were at the launch of Kimora's new fragrance Baby Phat Fabulosity in NYC on Wednesday, but whose style was better?
Selita chose a vibrant turquoise chiffon mini dress teamed with clear sandals and long straightened hair. This colour is my favourite ever and the tend dress shape looked chic.
Kimora also wore a blue mini dress but hers was a mid-blue, v-neck, pleated number with embellished bust line. The lady of the event (who is rumoured to be pregnant!) matched the gold detail on the dress with her strappy gold sandals and wore her hair big and curly.
Both ladies oozed "Fabulosity" but I think Selita wins it for me for the gorgeous colour of her dress! It just looked stunning on her.
But what do you think?

Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr strutted about NYC whilst doing a spot of shopping last Sunday, like only a model could!
She looked gorgeous as usual in a casually chic outfit of skinny jeans, a jumper and a stunning cropped blazer.
Miranda accessorised with a structured black bag, slouchy black ankle boots and layered necklaces.
The supermodel wore her long hair centre-parted and straight for an on-trend look. Very cool.

Links to this post Email this postOMG Whose Style Is Better?! - Jenny vs Brenda
Monday, 10 March 2008
The L.A. Premiere of Horton Hears a Who was held yesterday and main star Jim Carrey's girlfriend Jenny McCarthy, and Disney star Brenda Song both turned up on the orange carpet.
But whose style was better??
Actress/comedienne Jenny looked great in a chic nautical outfit, comprising of a striped navy and white off-the-shoulder top and high waisted navy trousers. The wide legged style of the high-waisted trousers makes them much more flattering and the little silver button details are so cute! She finished off the look with navy espadrille wedges. Her sleek bob and bare shoulders make this make the look sophisticated.
As for Brenda, I wouldn't know who she was if it wasn't for my little sister watching The Suite Life of Zack and Cody every weekend! Brenda hit a trend I've noticed a lot of lately, 1920's flapper inspired dresses, with her strapless silver and cream fringed dress and long beaded necklace. She finished with black pumps and casual hair, and I adore her girly lilac nail polish!
So whose style do you think was better?
For me, they both look fab but I'd have to go with Jenny. Her maturity shows here and she clearly knows what looks good on her body. I love that she looks comfortable and casual yet sooooo chic at the same time! Love the top, love the trousers, love the shoes, luuuuurve the hair!
