Blake Lively's Everyday Chic
Monday, 30 June 2008
While we all wait in anticipation for the return of the fabulously dramatic Gossip Girl, we can enjoy this candid of one of its lead stars, Blake Lively, out and about in NYC recently.
Blake loves casual chic like her character Serena on the show. She was wearing a blue and white mini shirt dress with flat black pumps and an oversized white bag. That's how comfy shopping style is done ladies!

Wednesday, 4 June 2008
The most stylish celebs, decked out in their favourite Chanel outfits, showed up last Thursday to celebrate the opening of the new Chanel Boutique on Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
Which five starlets wore Chanel best though?:
At 5 is actress Malin Akerman who looked fashion forward in a black glittery all in-one suit with a plunging neckline. What a daring look! This could look dated quickly so I'm not sure I like the 70s style Farrah Fawcett flicks with it, but the sleek, silver clutch is lovely.
At 4 is one of my very favourite actresses, the beautiful Rachel Bilson! I love how she's made her new fringe versatile by wearing it pushed to the side and I love, love, love her acid orange clutch.
The frilled shift dress is cute but it drowns Rachel's tiny frame a little.
At 3 is Michelle Trachtenberg, who for some reason unknown to be, Chanel did not want people to know attended the store opening! Apparently they asked photo agencies not to post photos of her at the event, but wisely they ignored those wishes!
Michelle looked chic in a high-waisted, grey knee-length skirt with a classic black vest tucked in and a pretty silver belt to accessorise. I wonder if she'll wear Chanel any more??
Youngster Emma Roberts brought some much needed colour to the event with a stunning, floral print halter-neck maxi dress. The style, the colour, the print........I love it all! And it fits her perfectly. This look is just the right amount of fun and stylish in one and the little gold clutch adds some glam.
And at number 1 is my favourite Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester! She looked elegant and gorgeous in a little black Chanel dress with a fitted bodice, pleated skirt, and exquisite jewelled neckline. Teamed with simple black courts and a sophisticated updo she looks as proper as her character Blair Waldorf, but with a touch of Hollywood dazzle!

Monday, 12 May 2008
I know you've seen these pics, and I know I'm late, but no celebrity fashion blog worth it's salt can bypass the Metroplitan Museum of Art's Annual Costume Institute Gala. It is the fashion event of the year after all!
My favourite of the classic black gowns were worn by Zhang Ziyi, Blake Lively and Ashley Olsen.
Zhang Ziyi kept up on trends with a one shouldered black gown from Armani Prive Spring 2008 Couture, one of my favourites of the collection. Her sleek hair and clean skin were stunning.
Ashley Olsen looked way better than her sister Mary-Kate (who looked like an old lady with ashen skin, greyish hair and hunched shoulders) in a custom made Diane von Furstenberg cutout gown which looked sexy but classic. I wish she'd have put a little more effort into hair and make-up though.
My favourite black gown though was Gossip Girl Blake Lively's Ralph Lauren Fall 2008 gown. The strapless, feathered, fish tail gown fitted her like a glove and had just enough glamour whilst still being simple.
Her soft hair and make-up were flawless and the little black satin gloves were such a cute touch!

Whilst we all wait patiently for the return of Gossip Girl (when we're gonna find out one of the characters is gay, my money's on Chuck!), here is a picture of my favourite star Leighton Meester at the Remember the Daze Hollywood Premiere on Tuesday.
Leighton looked great!
I love the unusual mirrored mini skirt, and the coffee coloured vest is the perfect colour, material and fit for a vest. So cute!
Gossip Girl returns in 11 days!! April 11th. Can't wait.

Wednesday, 9 April 2008
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg once played sisters on their hit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but now Sarah is a filmstar and wife and Michelle is the newest addition to teen drama Gossip Girl, whose style is better??
Sarah was seen at Starbucks in Beverly Hills last Friday looking cute and casual wearing a little navy dress and leggings with a cropped, quilted leather jacket and a stripey blue scarf. I love her bright red bag which brightens up the whole look, and her big sunglasses which give her that glam factor.
Michelle was spotted on the set of Gossip Girl in New York last Thursday in typical Upper East Side fashion, wearing skinny black jeans, a printed blue and grey blouse and grey stiletto ankle boots.
But whose style do you think was better??
For me, I pick Sarah. Just because when you look at the individual items, the look probably shouldn't work or look particularly good but somehow it still does. And also because I expect Michelle's been styled by the brilliant Gossip Girl wardrobe people so she has an unfair advantage!

Monday, 7 April 2008
American Idol wants to remind you all that it is not just a hugely successful reality TV show produced (and presented) by super-rich men in suits whose pockets it is happily lining....they also do some good in the world, and no not just because it gave us Kelly Clarkson!
Idol Gives Back is a foundation which helps children and young people in poverty in the USA and around the world through various means.
The Idol Gives Back 2008 show was filmed yesterday in L.A. and loads of stars turned up, performed, and presented. Some looked casual, some looked glam, some looked good, some looked not so good.
Miley Cyrus (left) performed at the show and she looked good in casual skinny jeans and a cute sequined, layered, camisole. She looked young and fun but I'm not fussed on the boots.
Also looking good was Teri Hatcher in a tailored black blazer, long white top and jeans. Wonder if her and Ryan shared any awkward moments?!
Looking not-so-good in their casual outfits were Fergie (left), who was shocking in shiny leather leggings, and Mariah Carey who was boring and cheap looking in a black vest and gold chain belt.
Some stars dressed up a bit more though, like Geri Halliwell who debuted new boyfriend, dancer Ivan FlipZ Velez, at the event. She wore the blue-grey version of a Herve Leger dress once worn by Rihanna in pink. She looked hot and her figure is amazing these days! In shape, but not too skinny as she has been in the past.
Reese Witherspoon presented at the event and looked demure and pretty in a simple LBD. All the details were on trend though: a waist belt, sheer top section and ruffles. Her bold red peep toes set of the whole look!
Looking not so good all glammed up was Idol judge Paula Abdul. The sweetheart neckline, red dress is actually pretty sexy, but poor Paula just always looks a mess! I don't know how she does it......but I think the secret's in the 80s bouffant hair.
I love the style of Carrie Underwood's off the shoulder Farah Angsana gown, but it seems a little OTT for this event, considering most people were in jeans! Plus I hate the iridescent colour orange/pink colour!
As a side note, Carrie was asked about rumoured boyfriend Chase Crawford and she said that they had broken up a couple of months ago via text because it just wasn't working so it's weird that it's all coming out in the press now. She said it was mutual. Hmm. Dumping via text, how classy!

Links to this post Email this postBest Dressed at Prada's Trembled Blossoms
Saturday, 22 March 2008
So many celebs showed up looking fabulous for the L.A. Screening of Prada's Trembled Blossoms, a 4-minute animated movie short inspired by the Prada Spring 2008 Collection, on Wednesday.
My favourite outfit was the won worn by fashionista Angie Harmon. The volumous printed skirt was so on trend for Spring and I loved the strappy purple shoes and the fitted top which gave her a real girly silhouette.
I also liked Ugly Betty star Becki Newton's flirty little strapless turqouise dress. It's simple but with her gold accessories it looked really sexy!
I loved Ginnifer Goodwin's colour block dress and her black satin Mary Jane shoes, however I hated her heavy make-up and flat to the head hair! It really ruined the look.
Of course there were plenty of LBD's.
One of my favs was Nicole Richie's floaty v-neck dress which she wore with hot lace-up shoes. The unusual neckline makes this dress. And I think Nicole looks great post-pregnancy despite what some idiotic people in the media may be saying. She certainly looks better than she did in her deathly-skinny days!
Malin Akerman is a little late on the leather trend but if you look good, you look good, regardless of the season! She certainly did look good in her leather empire line mini dress and delicate strappy black sandals.
Finally we have Buffy alum Michelle Trachtenberg, who is rumoured to be appearing on Gossip Girl in the role Mischa Barton supposedly turned down, who played it safe in a strapless black prom style dress and black peep toes. Classic? Boring? I'll let you decided!

Links to this post Email this postFashion's Four Degrees of Seperation - The It Girls
Sunday, 9 March 2008
The It Girls. We all know them. We all have opinions on them. And we all love to talk about them! But who has the best style?
Four of the biggest It girls have been photographed out and about in the past couple of weeks sporting their individual styles.
Mischa Barton, 22, who supposedly just turned down a role on Gossip Girl (yeah, cos her career's going so well since The OC!), was seen shopping at the Prada store in Paris last week during Fashion Week. Mischa wore classic black skinny jeans and a plain white tee which she made look stylish with a mustard coloured swing coat, silver peep toe flats and a Louis Vuitton bag. I love her big silver cuff bracelets!
Mischa's best friend Nicole Richie, 26, who recently gave birth to her adorable baby girl Harlow, was dressed top-to-toe in slimming black whilst shopping in Santa Monica recently with boyfriend Joel Madden. Nicole kept things quirky with her Chanel shades and black platform ankle boots. and her hippyish braids in her hair.
Nicole's other BFF (on and off that is, though she seems to have dumped Mischa now they're "on" again) Paris Hilton, 27, was seen at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills recently. Paris and Mischa have a long running fued beginning when Mischa began dating Cisco Adler, ex-fiance of Paris's other BFF Kimberly Stewart (yes you can have multiple BFF's in Hollywood!) and hightened when Paris and Nicole fell out and Mischa became Nicole new best friend. Both It girls have hit out at each other in the press and last year, Mischa apparently dumped Cisco because of a naked photo of him found in amongst Paris Hilton's possesions. Then to top things off Paris started going out on the town with Cisco, and is already good friends with Mischa's other ex, Brandon Davis!
Paris' style has had a recent change from party girl to rock chick since she began dating Nicole's boyfriend's identical twin brother Benji Madden! Wow. The two have not been together long (he only split from his fiance and Nicole's other friend Sophie Monk in January) but Paris is already wearing a BM ring on her wedding finger and sporting DCMA clothing. DCMA is Benji and Joel's own clothing line and here Paris is seen wearing a black DCMA t-shirt with skinny jeans and black knee-high boots, whilst carrying shopping which included Nicole and baby Harlow's exclusive People Magazine cover!
But Paris isn't the only famous Hilton, younger sister Nicky Hilton, 24, was seen shopping at Melrose Avenue in in L.A. last week looking chic in a Dennis the Menace style black and red striped jumper, tailored black shorts and black zip detailed flats. I really love her cute gold heart pendant!
So whose style do you prefer? For me it's between Mischa and Nicky!

L-R: Kelis, Natasha Bedingfield, Taylor Swift and Leighton Meester
So many celebrities showed up for the Verizon Wireless and People Magazine Party in Hollywood on Friday and many looked great in bold colours and prints.
Kelis looked hot in an 80s inspired pink polka dot skirt and sexy black bandeau top - an outfit you need plenty of confidence and a unique sense of personal style to pull offf!
Leighton Meester also opted for prints in her adorable leopard print dress with a tied neckline and red piping, which was matched with her red sandals.
Natasha Bedingfield redeemed herself in my eyes after her recent fashion mishap, in a black and green colour block dress with a sexy halter neck.
And finally 18 year old country singing sensation Taylor Swift looked sweet in a bold purple bubble hem dress teamed with sparkly silver strappies and gorgeous side swept curls.
L-R: Kim Kardashian, Christina Milian, Miley Cyrus and Fergie
Also worth a mention for looking half way decent are; Kim Kardashian in a fitted cream Herve Leger dress, Christina Milian in a long black bandeau dress with a revealing cut-out section, Miley Cyrus who looked cute and more age-appropriate than usual in a floaty red and cream sequined dress and finally Fergie who bucked the dress trend and instead opted for a sexy pinstriped suit with slick centre-parted pony tail.

Links to this post Email this postOMG I Love Paris Fashion Week Spring 2008 Couture Valentino
Saturday, 2 February 2008
Celebs at the Valentino Spring 2008 Couture Show at Paris Fashion Week last week included Gossip Girl's Blake Lively who wore one of my favourite white dresses from Valentino's Spring 2008 RTW Collection, Eva Herzigova also in a little white dress with cropped black jacket and Eva LaRue who wore a black high-waisted skirt and a gorgeous white ruffle blouse.
The collection had some fantastic individual pieces, most notably the cream lace top and matching lace skirt (above middle).
There were skirt suits aplenty with pencil skirts and flared skirts, swing jackets and belted jackets, in pastels and florals, but all with cropped sleeves.
The coats were feminine and sleek in bright all over colours with minimal details.
Florals were a big theme from prints to embroidery. The floral dresses were very ladylike especially teamed with elbow length gloves.
There were also lots of pretty cream and beige dresses in sleek sexy styles with plunging necklines and ruffles.
Shoes were mostly silver courts.
There were black dresses, white dresses and black and white dresses galore! Monochrome glam.White fishnet tights were a big trend as were slicked bakc hairdos with oversized earrings.
There were very feminine gowns, my favourite being the floral, chiffon off-the-shoulder number (above left) which was figure hugging yet soft.
Shiny fabrics were also used a lot in the Valentino gowns in pastel colours like lilac, green and pink.
Some of the gowns has sleek, straight sillhouettes and incorporated beading as well as silver and gold metallics.
They mostly had fitted bodices and layered or curve skimming skirts.
And the show ended with classic Valentino white gowns.
There were many styles including a trendy one shoulder number and a gown with a plunging neckline, cropped sleeves and a silver bow around the waist.
My favourite however was modelled by Chanel Iman and was a beautiful strappy lace number with chiffon panels wrapped all around.

Wednesday, 30 January 2008
The young starlets of TV, music and modelling came out to the Launch Party for The Blackberry Pearl 8130 Smartphone in New York yesterday wearing their finest outfits.
My fav look of the night was One Tree Hiller Sophia Bush who wore a bold print mini dress in pink with black opaque tights and black patent lace up stillhettos. The beautiful actress was also carrying a black satin bag with a gold chain handle.
Also looking good was Paris Hilton. The socialite wore a geometric shaped grey mini dress again with black opaque tights and grey suede t-bar shoes. I love her new bob especially with her cute black hairband!
And Gossip Girl cutie Taylor Momsen was age appropriate and sweet in a strapless baby pink prom dress, glittery silver peep toes and an oversized silver pendant. Adorable!
L-R: Natasha Bedingfield, Kat DeLuna, CariDee English and Miranda Kerr
Some of the other starlets at the event included Natasha Bedingfield, who wore a cute strapless white dress but teamed it with totally the wrong shoes! The red shoes were kinda nice but woulda looked much better with an LBD. Silver peep toes woulda gone better with her dress!Kat DeLuna sported a trendy centre parted hairstyle with a black and white print dress which woulda been cute if it didn't have a high neck and long sleeves. That just makes it too much, especially with her black ankle boots too.
Former America's Next Top Model winner CariDee striked a Tyra pose, but looked cheap in a silky red dress with see through lace panels that looked more like lingerie than clothing!
Meanwhile, actual top model Miranda Kerr followed the statement that less is more and kept covered up in grey skinny jeans, a black t-shirt and a long grey cardigan layered with a leather jacket.

Tuesday, 18 December 2007
Ahhhhh! If only you knew how long I've been searching for the perfect pair of cable knit tights! I have thick woollen ones, black opaques, even ribbed tights...but the cable knits are so hard to find (within my budget)!
They are so country chic, and oh soooo Blair Waldorf (aka Leighton Meester) of Gossip Girls Upper East Side.
You just know she'd love Maria Menounos's black cable knit tights and patent shoe boots worn back stage at the Clash of the Choirs in NYC on Sunday.
Though unlike uptight, buttoned up Blair, Maria chose a bold red Mod style dress to complete the look.
Next time, leave the tacky sparkly gold hoops at home! Otherwise, fab outfit!

Links to this post Email this postOMG I Spot a Trend! - Grey is Soooo In!
Tuesday, 11 December 2007
You may have heard already, but here is the proof that grey is in for Autumn/Winter - the celebs are wearing it everywhere!
The Hills hottie Audrina (far left) headed to Koi Restaurant last week wearing a pleated little grey dress, a nice change from the LBD whilst still being sexy. Hopefully she was on a date with a guy that's not Justin Bobby. Anyone else would be an improvement! Well except for Spencer Pratt haha. Who watched the finale yesterday?? I also love her grey socks sticking out of the top of her slouchy black boots. A nice casual touch.
More pics
Jessica Szohr (second left), star of Gossip Girl, looked fantastic in her long grey cardigan and vintage grey t-shirt at the Kitson and Christoher Brian Resort Collection Launch, also last week. Jessica's skinny jeans and red peep toes look so fabulous and really add some style to the laidback look. I also love this girl's fresh make-up and casual hair!
More pics
Ex-Buffy actress Michelle Trachtenberg (second right), looked sweet and showed that grey can be dressy in her belted dress at The Women of the Year Awards recently. The grey tights is too much though and I have a thing about tights being worn with knee length dresses! For me, the dress needs to be shorter to wear it with tights and with this dress they should have been black!
More pics
Finally is one of my favourite fashionistas, Ashley Olsen, wearing a purple Balenciaga Autumn 2007 jacket over a simple grey jumper with fur trim. I hope that fur is faux! You know you've been in trouble one too many times with PETA already Ashley! I also like her skinny jeans but the brown wedges should be put away until next summer and her roots need doing badly!
More pics
See, there's nothing dull about grey!

"Growing up, I was constantly borrowing clothes from my older sisters, or I’d pick out something from Urban Outfitters and my mom would tailor it to my size—I don’t think I ever dressed like a kid. Now that I’m on Gossip Girl, the wardrobe is so amazing and inspiring, it’s opened a whole new style gateway for me."

Friday, 7 December 2007
Silver and gold metallic dresses and tops are being sported by all the trendiest celebs at the moment, and is definately a look you should adopt for all those fab parties and nights out over Christmas and New Year!
Eva Mendes (far left), Mischa Barton (second left) and Petra Nemcova (second right) all shone in their metallic dresses for the Dolce & Gabbana party in NYC on Tuesday.
For ladylike Eva, a light gold knee-length dress with black jewels under the bust line was the perfect classy way to wear metallics.
More pics
Funky Mischa wore a loose silver mini dress with black opaque tights and Christian Louboutin Mad Mary Jane's. She finished her quirky look with an embroidered across-the-body bag and a mustard coloured coat. Plus, how fab does her darker hair look!
More pics
Meanwhile, Petra went for full on sexy glam in a fitted, sequined, silver dress with a bow around the waist and a matching bag. The silver looked stunning next to Petra's tan and the girl sure knows how to strike a pose!
More pics
My fav Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester (far right) wore a gypsy style, strapless gold dress with black strappies to the 11th Annual Teddy Bear Ball on Monday. With her soft romantic updo, Leighton looked so pretty!
More pics
Finally, if you don't wanna wear a dress but still wanna do the metallic trend, check out Heidi Klum (middle) at the Inside Project Runway event in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. The supermodel wore a silver sequined vest top with skinny jeans and patent black courts and threw a black tailored blazer and skinny neck scarf over the top for a hip fashionista look. I'm looking for a blazer just like this! It has such a perfect fit and I love the rolled up sleeves fora casual edge.

Thursday, 6 December 2007
Don't you all think Blake Lively's glamorous retro curls looked so great at the 11th Annual Teddy Bear Ball on Monday?? I've always wanted curly hair and this style is one of my favourites!
Ahh well, I guess the grass is always greener as they say. Curly haired girls are usual jealous of straight locks! Thank god for straightners and curling tongs.
Blake's hair style is so old school glam but her natural make-up and Gucci Autumn 2007 dress modernise it for the perfect blend.
