Top 10 Best Dressed - BET Awards 2008!

Monday, 30 June 2008

So last week the 2008 BET Awards were held in L.A., but who were the 10 best dressed celebs in attendance in my opinion?:

At number 10 is plastic rapper Lil' Kim. While her face may be ruined by cosmetic surgery, and her wig is worse than Tyra's, the pencil dress with plunging neckline is actually a pretty sexy fit and the purple colour is on trend.

I like the cute little bow shoes too! Now if only she got a new hairstylist and make-up artist...

Also rocking the purple trend at number 9 was the beautiful Nia Long, in a volumous plum mini dress. I love the draped grecian style, but the excessive volume on the hips isn't all that flattering. The colour however looks amazing on her.

Bringing a touch of glam and bling to the event at number 8 is Ashanti. I suppose she had to make an impact as she is back on the music scene with a new album, and that she did in her black floor-length gown, with thigh high split and sparkly silver chain embellishments.

The Marchesa Fall 2007 dress is a little over the top for me but her black sandals were frigging fantastic! I think a more sublte slit would have improved this look no end.

Alicia Keys is at number 7 because I absolutely love the colour of her strapless pink David Meister dress. The feisty singer teamed the simple dress with black and white Sergio Rossi shoes.

Hip-Hop video vixen's are not usually known for their class, but that's exactly what Angel Lola Luv exuded on the BET Awards Red Carpet last week, landing her at number 6 on my best dressed list.

The curvacious model's body looked stunning in a black dress with fitted bodice and flared skirt with tutu style netting underneath. In any other colour this could look costumey, but in black it looks sophisticated. However, I don't like her drap, flat hair style and the chunky gold necklace is unnecessary.

At number 5 is BET News presenter Danella looking lady like in a beautiful floral black chiffon gown with a plunging halter neck. The dress has the right amount of class and sexiness and the floral print is so fashionable right now.

Bringing some vibrant colour to the occassion at number 4 is the gorgeous Lauren London. Her yellow strapless mini dress looked fashion forward worn with her black Givenchy strappy open toe ankle boots and polka straight long hair.

And so now the top three, at number 3 is Jenece Johnson wearing a salmon pink version of the ever popular Herve Leger dresses with simple silver sandals and silver earrings. Sexy, bright and clean cut. I love it!

At number 2 is Keyshia Cole's stunning performance gown a tie dye chiffon gown with pure white bodice. Her red carpet look was too severe with her cropped hair cute and garish yellow volumous dress, but on stage later on she looked feminine and beautiful with her soft curls and glamorous gown.

The colour combination was beautiful showing that tie dye can be sophisticated and doesn't have to mean hippy!

And finally at number 1 is..................Rihanna! The queen of the red carpet strikes again in an attention grabbing, lemon Giambattista Valli Spring 2008 tiered gown.

The fitted bodice was delicate with its spaghetti straps, subtle frills and deep v-neck while the full-length, tiered skirt was perfect for twirling around the red carpet, as Rihanna did!

The thing that makes this whole look for me was her simple but stunning silver heart pendant, and her short cropped hair do allowed for the dress to take centre stage.

When is someone else gonna step up and take Rihanna's red carpet crown from her??

The Seventh Annual Comedy for a Cure Best Dressed!

Thursday, 10 April 2008

The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance's Seventh Annual Comedy for a Cure was held in Hollywood last Sunday and many celebs turned up to support the cause which raises money to help find a cure for Tuberous Sclerosis.

The best dressed on the night for me was Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, who was also honoured for her support of the cause. Teri set off her tan with a gorgeous strapless orange chiffon dress and accessorised with silver (though I would have chosen gold with orange).

Also looking nice in a curve enhancing dress was Melina Kanakaredes who wore a satin green pencil dress by David Meister with cap sleeves and a skinny waist belt. She also wore a statement pendant necklace for a simple, classic look.

And finally we have Canadian actress Emmanuelle Vaugier who looked nice in a a little navy tie front dress. She's way too skinny and would look much better with a bit of meat on her bones but I do adore her printed clutch bag and matching gold strappy sandals with printed bow. I don't know that I would have worn them at the same time as the matching dress though, it's a bit overkill.

What do you think of the fashion choices??
